GS in the wet

Superb.:D

Never rode the 1150 on anything other than Tournances.
The 1200 I prefer on Anakees, but the tourances arent far behind.

How do you rate the GS 1150 for handling in the wet and what are your favourite tires for the road?

Can't comment on the handling of the 1150 or the 1100 (what I ride) in the wet, but what I can say is that I test rode a R1200GS at the BMW Biker Meet in Garmisch this year. The test rides involved a one and a half hour ride on some very twisty mountain roads led by a very experienced BMW tourguide rider. The weather was terrible, it was torrentiial rain. I was behind the tourguide rider and was amazed by how much the guy was leaning the 1200 over in the wet !! When I ride my bike I never take chances in the wet, but as it wasn't my bike on the test ride, I thought, if the tourguide can lean it over that much in the wet, then I can. The bike I was riding had Metzeler Tourance tyres on it and I can say that I was completely blown away by how much grip they have in the wet. I never would have thought any tire could grip that much, and it was absolutely pissing it down.........amazing.
Cheers,

Yep, my 1150GSA is brilliant in the wet with Tourances. The screen gives good weather protection as well and the tank shape keeps your legs fairly dry as well (if you are going fast enough!). Can't really expect more from a bike in the wet! :D :thumb

Mines excellent in the wet. On Tourances and, currently, Pirelli MT90 Scorpions.

Faultless in the wet,on seemingly any surface, one up/two up,clean or loaded.

Been on Tourances, very good tyres, but currently on second set of Pirelli MT90 Scorpions......excellent tyres.

My bike came with Trail wings and I must say presently they've been very well behaved. The only problem I can see is that they seem to be wearing quite quickly on the sides. I guess this is due to my riding style.

I must admit these Trail wings get really warm. In fact, the other week my friend and I went out together, went we stopped my rear tyre was warmer than the Bridgestone 014 on the back of his K5 Gixxer thou! I can only attribute this to the sheer weight of the GS?

I spoke to a couple of lads the other week who rated the Trail Wing better than the Tourance on the road, although the one wasn't a GS rider!

What sort of mileage are people getting on the rear with the Tourance?

;)
