I have just bought a Midland G8 (It's basically a water proof G7) radio to use with my Autocom Active plus.

I then got a part 1435 lead (for the G7) hoping they were the same.
The lead pins are the same but as the socket on the G8 is inset to allow for the waterproof rubber bung, I can't insert the lead plug fully. The L shape of the plug is to short.

Anyway, my question, do you make (or will you be making) a lead that fits the G8?

Regards.

Hi,

This is the first news to me of the plugs are different so we didnt even know that they were. So as for making the leads not as yet due to the new news. To get you connected Iwould say we need to have a look at a specific Midland G8 headset that fits the radios to see if we could convert it into an interface lead for you offering the correct connections needed at either end.

Hi Rich.

Update on this. I have now managed to get the part 1435 plug to fit in the G8 radio with a bit of typical Tosser bodging.
I have had to remove the rubber water seal from the spk /mic socket on the radio as it was stopping the angled plug from inserting fully. It does leave a small hole in the case where the cover is fitted to radio, but I can easily fill that in with silicon.
From what I can find on the net, the G8 headset is the same as the G7 one. They seem to have a straight type plug rather than the 90 deg plug on the Autocom lead.
Thanks for your help with this mate.

Just noticed on the Chainspeed site that the 1435 lead there has a straight through plug. Thats what I thought I ordered but I was sent a 1435 with a 90 deg plug.

Oh thats good news and I am glad that you have got yourself sorted. As for the plugs I am unsure on what part Sam at Chainspeed used for the photo as the picture could be another lead.
