Gs service costs

Over £100 difference between my two local dealers for a 12,000 and annual combined.

I ended up paying £219 including a final drive oil change (no drain bung) at Bahnstormers:thumb

Willam's refund shock horror

Just been on the phone to Williams in Manchester and it does appear I was over charged by £99.00 ! So I'm getting a refund.

Thanks to everybody and the nice people at Southport Supperbikes. I owe each and everyone of you a virtual pint!

Cheers

When I had one done I asked what the price would be as there is a lot of duplication. Can't remember how much it was, certainly less than what you paid first time and that was with asking for 20 / 50 oil. That was at Williams as well.

6k was £130 from Motorrad central in Edinburgh
12k plus annual inspection was £180 inc brake fluids from John Clarks Dundee
I think you lot are being overcharged...

Booked in for the 24000 service at rainbow on friday quoted £220,i was quoted £380 at pidcocks:eek: should get a good few:beer: with the money i save :thumb

Just had the 12K service at Vines.£425 for the priviledge, reduced to £390 when I queried why I had to pay for a rocker cover gasket, when they were repalcing the o/s cover because of the peeling finish.
They changed brake fluid x 2
Changed gearbox oil
Brake check AND brake inspection. This inspection was £161 + VAT, no idea why.
New air and oil filter.

Bargain but it runs well and the service at Vines was excellent with friendly helpful staff, even at 17.45hrs on a Friday.:clap

My mistake

To much Cobra. The £161 inspection is a BMW inspection with annual inspection.
How many inspections does it need?

I was quoted £360 for the combimed 12000 & annual by Bahnstormer earlier this week.

That dosn't sound right to me, i'd get them to check again or at least have a ring around and compare, i'm confident I am no more than £5 out in my estimate of what i paid and that was a 12000 service with annual (first year annual check if that makes any difference) and a final drive oil change.

Perhaps the annual check costs are different for different years:nenau

CW quoted me £315 so slightly lower.

May do the oil/ filters & valves myself to bring the costs down

Slight thread creep but anyone had a 36k done yet? How expensive a job is the alternator drive belt?

Had my 6000 service done at Williams Manchester,£280. When I dropped the bike off they suggested that I went for a walk and to come back in a couple of hours, no mention of a loan bike. As it was raining I declined their offer of an amble round the backside of Manchester and waited in the showroom for two hours to then be presented with a pair of badly worn rear pads. Pads fitted and bill paid I went home and noticed the rear caliper hadn't been cleaned or pad pins greased, nor had the front calipers been cleaned. 3000 miles on the rear pads aren't showing any noticable wear, hmm, I do hope they dont keep a pair of knackered ones in the drawer to show to customers.
Has anybody got any feedback on Rainbow Rotherham, I've heard their service is second to none.

Service Costs

Just had my 1st (Running In) Service done at Mill BMW in Sunderland. Total Price £64.66 and that included the "Liquid Gold" they put in the Final Drive and removing the Rear Hugger to get the Wheel out. I always have a nose around to the Workshop when my Bikes are in for Service and at Mill this is not a problem, the Foreman always has time to speak to me and explain just what they are doing. This time the GS was up on the Lift and the Rear Drive striped out as the Oil was Drained, Rocker Covers removed for Valve adjustment. Total time from Bike in the Shop to being returned to me after a 15 Minute Road Test was 2 Hours and 25 Minutes. They also coded my Ignition key to my new Panniers (which I bought on the "Spare of The Moment" at a good Discount) free of charge. I queried the cost of the next Service,(6000 miles plus annual) and was informed this would be £180. All in all "Mill BMW" in my opinion manage to provide all the benefits of a BIG dealer such as good financial deals, good customer facilities, and a nice waiting area with free Coffee etc together with the Friendly and Enthusiastic approach that Bikers appreciate.

A friend of mine had his 6000 mile + year service done a Bristol Motorrad and it cost him £316. It appears that BMW have changed there maintenance schedule the 6000 mile service now includes the change of brake fluid in the front and rear brakes = 1.5 hrs @ £65/hr

cw say they dismantle, clean and grease both front calipers as they are very prone to seizure otherwise :nenau

this is not part of the bmw service AFAIK.

Bluebell do this at every service FOC. Here are my service prices so far and each one has included the FOC brake strip, clean and grease.

6,000 - £165.10
12,000 - £183.20
18,000 - £178.61 and that included the annual

BMW did change it, but for bikes fitted with the braided steel brake hoses. It used to be every year for the wheel circuit and every 2 years for the control circuit. It is now every 2 and 4 years.
