GSA handover date

This only heightens the pain of the early adopter, knowing that the aussies got all their bikes converted to Right hand drive before those in the mother country :)

Telling the dealer to 'Stick it' is indeed a tactic but one that will maybe backfire...

The dealership calls our disgruntled friend's bluff and returns his deposit then and there. The same dealer then, between now and the launch date in Mid-March, lets it be known to one of the salivating pack (who had neglected to pre-order) that a cancellation has come up, would they like to join their biker brothers for tea and buns on the official launch day?

Everyone happy, including the OP who has really shown 'em... By reordering and (as it's then old hat) choosing a delivery date that suits him to a tee. He'll get a discount of course, as there will not be the pre-launch excitement buzz and the 1250 will have been announced.

PS It's going to be 'kin funny if, when having been forced to wait the extra two days after so many months, chummy's steed has a shonky gear change.

Tell the dealer to stick it. If they cant do the handover when YOU want it. Its your money and your bike !! Id be telling them that for sure. :D

I'm sure they couldn't give a toss, deposit refunded & they'd soon sell it to another willing buyer

As a car dealer, I can say that it's pretty simple and standard across the industry. On the launch day there will no doubt be countless prospective buyers, tyre kickers, and those using it as a valid excuse to escape from the wife, so a 30 minute handover with a limited sales team is not going to be too feasible if they're wining and dining the above motley crew.

Completely agree.... After many years working in a BMW dealership .... Not bike.... And being involved in many launch events.... I understand why they are waiting for the Monday to hand over new bikes..... Firstly.... Workshop and parts are open.... Because most customers want something moving, changing, adding or cleaning.....

Plus.... As the dealership wants to give the best experience.... And have the time to spend with valued customers.... A launch day is never going to be the right time..... And the old days of "just give me the keys and I'm gone"..... Should not happen.

And what is the problem with 2 more days..... Or is it.... " I got mine first " .... So you can sit at the cafe, and coo over it.....

Wait, and be a bit more understanding of a professional dealership, trying to give you an experience....not just taking your money....

I too would be furious having to wait an extra 2 days to collect my bike, tell BMW to stick their bike and go buy a Honda and let some other poor sap have to wait an extra 48 hours:augie:augie:augie

Even though I have been ripping the OP a bit, he may well be in a position where he can't collect in the week so it would have to be a weekend

On the collection of my GSA I had a Saturday handover (because i work away in different places during the week) but when the sales bod got to the "this is the traction control, don't ever mess with it or .....well just don't touch the button" it was then time for me just to ask for the keys and tell him to walk away.

It would appear that a lot of people buying new BMW's, in the dealers eyes, are of the more money than sense brigade, but they could justify that opinion with 5 minutes in the WC or Hexhead section at times.

Sorry but

Where does the valued customer fit into this scenario ? If the customer cant or wont do the pick up at the dealers convenience he should change dealers. It would be very easy for one "salesman" to do handovers while the rest try and fleece the general public of their hard earned. But that wont happen because its all hands on deck to get as much sales as possible................thats the real reason.:rob

RIGHT...... This is really easy.... The original point is easy to rectify...... TALK to your dealership.... Explain that a Monday is a busy working day and you really can't get in.... Ask if you can go in a few days before the launch....( not with a group of mates ) to have a handover, check your new bike, do all the paperwork and ask for it to be delivered at a time to suit you..... I did this.... Great service from Williams Manchester ....

Easy.....

Calm down dear

This is what I did with my dealer to, I was just adding my view of the "quality hand over experience"

You should be telling the OP ....

12 pager anyone?

"Fleece the general public"..... Your having a laugh..... Really.... You think people get fleeced..... You are out of touch with the real world...... No one makes you go.... And no one makes you spend your money.....!!

Fleecing

You really are a dreamer, aren't you :)

It's the weather... I've got cabin fever.... I've even rubbed down and oiled the garden furniture.....:blast

Need new project.... Lol....

I don't think that's quite so true anymore.... the Hexhead section has been a joy to be part of since March 2013 :D

Also, to be fair to the OP he is making his way to the UK for collection so its not just a simple case of going to the dealers after the Tesco shop.
