GSA spec?

Bars and heated grips are not "standard" fit on 04 GSA. Large tank is though. However most bike ordered into UK by dealers will have bars and heated grips pre-ordered - but you still need to pay for them . Probably the only way to not get them is to go for a factory order (with your long wait as you have discovered).

SIXTH GEAR AN OVERDRIVE ON THE GS.....I think you need to check this one out as last time I checked on the availability list all of them had the ADV sixth which is a normal one and NOT overdrive.

The adventure has two gearbox options

1. normal six speed box no overdrive and a normal sixth
(this is what mine has fitted and its fine on the motorway I personally didnt like the o/d box when i rode one )

2. a six speed box as above with a lower ratio first gear for off road.

Thanks for that tip about bath road mc andy.
Typical,I`am out of the country now now till wednesday so wont be able to get hold of them.Problem is my dealers got my 200 quid deposit from my canceled 1200 order,so I`d lose that if I bought from another dealer,they should be able to get a bike transfered from another dealer though shouldn`t they?
If I`am forking out almost 10 grand for a bike I should really get the exact spec I want.
The bike WILL be going off road so will I notice a big difference with the short 1st?

It should be OK about the deposit as I`am sure they can get a bike sent from another dealers,thats wha they`ve done with the one they`ve offered me.It sounds a good bike,but i`am jus keen to have the off road gearing.If you speak to keith tomorrow can you let him know I`ve sent him an email explaining that.
I`am stuck over here in the USA till wednesday so am out of communiction till then.Iam writing this is one of those "tv internet" infra red keyboards from my hotel roomand its a real pain to use

I believe the large tank is a standard fitment for 2004 Adventures. The BMW bars are listed as a factory fit option at £195, but it might be worth getting the Hepco and Becker bars as they wrap around the cylinders and offer superior protection in that area. They are in the region of £110 from Motorworks. The heated grips are a good idea. ABS is about a £750 option, heated grips are £175. List price is £8595 so those two options will bring it up to £9520.

The large tank, when full, causes a weight shift and with the H&B bars on, will pivot onto the tank damaging it. Go for the standard Adv bars.

Bollox . My Adv tank got dented with a simple off & slide with BMW Adv bars fitted - I replaced them with H&B as, unlike the BMW ones, they protect the rocker covers (both 'protectors' damaged & 1 cover holed, rendering the bike unrideable), which will at least mean you can ride it home...
