I would like my 12ADV to have a std H/Light switch so I can turn the dip beam off??,
Does the std 1200 switch fit or is there a mod out there I can do??.

Isn't there a method to turn the lights off - on/off switch turned a couple times with the indicator cancel switch depressed or something like that :nenau

With key on, engine on or off, press and hold indicator cancel for 5 secs, then press and hold rhs indicator switch for 5 secs. Dip light will go off, stay off until you switch key off and on again.
woohoo!

Mine is a dark blue and silver one, so time goes faster!

BTW, Isometimes find that when I hang my helpet on the lhs mirror, Ibump the indicator switch which puts on the paarking light....bloody mysterious until you find out what is causing it!

Well bloody hell !!, I must have missed that one in my booklet,,.
It turned off after several seconds, Great, :thumb
With my new HID Lights fitted, Iwanted the option to turn them off in some instances..
Thanks again you guys for helping me out, :clap :clap
Geoff.

it's not written in the booklet.

btw, if you hit the high beam the low will come on again without you having to restart the bike.

had a little arguing with the advrider people about this. I'm about to take some video of mine doing it for all ye naysayers!

I have an 07 model with the newer abs system - the firmware is likely to be different to previous models, but after checking again thismorning, the lights on/off works as I described for my 09/2006 plate.

here is a video of the lights off and high beam to turn on again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DATBc2XXWbU

and here is one of stationary turn abs off (starts with no warning lights - I walked the bike quickly around the carpark compared to the previous video - you can turn abs off (solid warning light) and back on again (no lights). I do this a couple of times in the vid. While I have no way to ride with the camera, the behaviour of the bike backs up what the lights say - if the light is on, you can lock the rear brake (at more than 10km/h), when the light is off, the abs kicks in (at more than 10km/h). (I was wrong about hitting the starter that works for the 650. My 12 turns on and off abs while running using just the abs button.

Call me stoopid and misinformed if you will, but it works for me.

(both vids compressed using xvid, i'm on dial up and not used youtube before, so sue me if it doesn't work or the image in small)

No problem turning lights off. Just can't get them to turn back on.
Will work on it and post the solution for HP2 owners.

Just tried my 12ADV 2006 lights,==

Dip turns off with indy/kill procedure,. :D

Will NOT turn back on with Flasher/high beam operation. :nenau

Dip only come back on if Ignition switch switched off then on again. :clap

Use the kill switch and dip stays OFF ,untill Ign switch operated again. :nenau .

Its good enough for me,.

Anyone know if this works on the 1150 bikes? (mines a Rockster, sans ABS)

Why don't you try it and see :nenau how simple is that .......................................

It doesn't work on your model, but it would've been just as quick for you to try it than search for the three year old thread and type out the question
