Problems to be fixed at 56,000 miles 1200GSA 06. One owner, from new.

From a quick investigation on Sunday:

One cracked Remus off-side header pipe. These have been on from day one. It has been hissing and blowing for quite a while on start up. It goes away quite quickly as the pipe heats up, but it won't be long before it's ping, crack and BINGO! One new header to be ordered.

One faulty (better described as, broken) auxiliary light switch. This has been duff for a couple of years. One new switch to be ordered.

The original battery is definitely now tired and needs to be put to rest. One OM battery to be bought.

Dip beam HID will sometimes fire up and sometimes (most often) won't. Four or five years old so can't complain. To be investigated. One spare burner received from Les W.

Gunged up front calliper, with uneven pad wear. Time to get scrubbing.

Gouged and knackered off-side cylinder head guard. Time to replace. Near-side, merely gouged. Time enough to leave.

Other than that, nuffin'.

Not bad. :thumb2

Oh, and the front tyre is shot.

No final drives, EWS or whatever the other thingy is that goes wrong???

It was just Sunday's total. If I look agin on Wednesday, something is bound to have fallen off. :D

Things to be sorted at 50k......................

Get those squared off Heidi K60's off and put some nice road rubber back on - will do so in a month or two when the roads dry/warm up.

Replace the horribly corroded rear light unit that keeps the rear bulb blown indicator lighting up - can't be arsed, the bulb still works.

Replace the corroded front cover with the 2nd hand one I bought and keep meaning to get sprayed up - can't be arsed.

Replace the l/h injector loom plug from the Wunderlich fuel controller - just done and the bike ticks over on two pots again now.

Replace the sticking front brake switch - can't be arsed, WD keeps it going for another few months.

Andres

PS Oh, and the fuel guage never reads more than half full - can't be arsed (or afford) to do anything about it.

Erm...fill it up with petrol about covers my 56k steed... touches wood-like substance..

Oh, they have already gone wrong..... Twice, in one case.

second post effectively makes the first post a pack of lies and untruths - best start again :thumb

Au contrair, mon brave.

It was simply a list of things that needed fixing (ie. unfixed) at the moment as 56000 miles appeared on the clock. Not a list of all the things that had ever gone wrong, fallen off, snapped off, blown up, blown off, been stollen, generally mistreated or succumbed to misfortune.

To complete the list of its tortured history to date:

One FPC

Two final drive problems, both different

Original suspension shot at about 35,000. Ohlins fitted, which were probably due a service by milage at 53,000; oh well.

Two H7 bulbs, before the brave new dawn of HID. Both in France.

Two or three tail bulbs

Two near-side handguard mount plastic things (not the whole thing, just the silly little plastic bit) Both self-inflicted

One near-side wing mirror (self-inflicted).

One off-side wing mirror (not self-inflicted)

Worn paint  to near-side frame (should have added that to the 56,000 mile list) which has been trhere from the time I first ran the bike in

Cracked winglets by the mounting holes (another thing I should have added) They cracked very early on in the bike's life, along with some small cracks on the screen, again from early days. Double eek :eek:

A sort of smudgy blemish to off-side winglet, from probably week three, where I absentmindedly sploshed 95 RON about. Triple eek :eek::eek:

Assorted tyres (no idea how many or how long a tyre lasts, simply replace when feel it needs it)

Twist grip wearing smoooooooth

Rear topbox carrier worn, probably where grit rubs between box and frame.

No idea where the pillion seat is in the garage

Number plate melted

One rivet has come out of the Remus exhaust, so the name plate will now fall off at some time. Or not. I will have to wait and see.

Tax disc expired June 2010 or maybe 09, I forget.

Scrape to off-side fuel tank (the plastic chunky lump) when bike (and I) fell sideways into an ornamental concrete flower tub outside the de la post hotel, Bouillon, as witnessed by assorted Tossers, who never let me forget.

Feck me, it's a pile o'poo now I look at it again :D Feck only knows what the next 50,000 will bring up :beerjug:

OOOPS, Nearly forgot. 30 odd litres of finest French diesel pumped into it. Made more smoke for weeks after than the Grand Fleet at the Spithead Review.

I think that is definitely the case.

I suspect it lacks enough umph to run the diagnostic properly, so it shuts down.

I can sometimes force it on by turning the key and hitting the starter button in quick succession. The jolt from the alternator giving it a kick in the pants, I guess.
