I'm still using City Navigator V6 on my trusty 2610 and, due to the improved mapping of Ireland, want to upgrade to V9.

V9 is £140 inc and I can get a new 2610 for no more than £190 inc with V8 and a free upgrade to V9.

I can then use the second unlock code to upgrade my old 2610 to V9 for free and if I can sell a brand new 2610 with V9 for more than £50 I've saved money! Have I got that right ........ or wrong? :o

Is there another unit that uses City Navigator that is cheaper than the 2610?

Can I get the 2610 for less than £190?

Its a good plan Bob, just a bit puzzled where your v9 upgrade price came from :nenau I'm not expecting it to cost more than £75 when they release it Jan/Feb 07.

Also I've known people struggle with the shared ownership of unlocks.

Keep finding myself looking at a new 2610 as a 'spare' but having just got a 60CS I think I'll just stick to the upgrade :thumb

GPS Warehouse is offering the V9 upgrade at £139.98 inc which seems about right as the US Garmin site has it at $299.

I hope your right Judge, at £75 I's just get the upgrade, although I've not had a problem with the second unlock code in the past, I had V6 on both ny SP3 and my 2610.

Your right I have been using the cost of a stand alone V9 for my simplistic calculations, what's the criteria to qualify for an update? Is it simply having a previous version i.e. V6 enough?

You may all have just saved me a pile of £££'s, thankyou.

As long as the v6 is an original and not an update one, I can't see a problem going from it to v9. Garmin do answer phone calls and e-mails if you want it from the horses mouth. HTH.

I upgraded my 2610 from Version 6 to Version 8 and it costs $75 plus VAT. At the time that cost around £54 all in, but now, with the dollar approaching 2 to the £, it will be even less.

Charles
