There is a member in the Irish section who has bought 2 bikes for his wife recently from members he knows personally on here, gotten a tossers favourable price and sold them on in a few days at a profit.

My objection is that he lied to use the camraderie (choose your own word) of this site to get a "discount", then pocketed the discount immediately.
If he'd been honest, he wouldn't have gotten the discount in at least one case. I know this person is fuming over it.

Right or wrong?

I suspect everyone (apart from him) will agree with your reason for posting.....it's wrong.

I predict the words 'Name and shame' will appear within 5 posts after this at most :rob

I also predict that some noob twat will pipe up and say it's all market economy and what have we got to do with it, blah blah blah

i am same hate that sort thing, saw lad who loat job had sell up, lad put bike up next few days later for few hundred more.

i agree with you but i think i got a ripping here before that if some one want try make quick profit then not lot we can do just make sure you dotn sell to him and/or buy off him

i have seen bikes start creep up in price though

Yep.
Third post and it sums it up.

Every time this happens it tarnishes the essence of the place a little bit more.

On balance (but no consolation in this case) there is at least as much Good stuff going on as well. I know this for sure as I've been on the receiving end of it myself recently.
We just dont hear about it - it happens quietly. That's the nature of Good. Bad however, attracts attention and sooner or later it WILL be repaid by some means.

Agree with you Jim. It's taking the pi$$.

Not sure about naming and shaming on a public forum though. The guy might consider coming on here and make case his though.

Is it me you are talking about I bought a bike off a member here for my mrs and told the seller if it did not suit her I would just sell it on
When I brought it home she could not lift it off the side stand so the bike was no good to her,I paid the price I was asked which I hope was the price the seller was happy with
About a week later I bought another bike which suited her far better but the way things are gone we can not afford to have a bike of that value lying around getting very little use
If the post is about me I would say yes I would consider myself good friends with both sellers but at no time was I dishonest in my dealings and paid the price I was asked
Ps i made no profit on the second bike and would not have sold it if my business was going a little better that it is at the moment
Ps if this is about me I don't bite most people have my phone number or can pm me and last week a member here asked me would I have any interest in buying his bike and if he still has it in a few weeks Might if funds allow
Ps my wife has got her provisional licence and is going biking

Ps Jim if someone has a problem with something they should be able to say it them selfs as already stated its a small country and we are all friends here I hope anyway

I...............

doesn't really ring true does it ?

it is very unfair on mide and gsless girl for this topic to be posted and for a member who hardly knows me to accuse me of lies, deceit and abuse of friendship is hard to beleive.

after my back op and refusing to bring my wife to wexford on my bike for safety grounds she deceided she wanted her own bike, mide advertised her bike for sale and i bought it off her for very close to the asking price,i told her and kev in there house and on there drive that if the bike did not suit my mrs i would sell it on.as she sould not get thr bike off the side stand she was unable to ride it,
i spend 300 on a full service new chain and sprockets and bulbs in the dash and i did sell it on

jo told me at the invision of wexford she was thinking about selling her bike and i bought that off her

anyone who knows me and thats most on here knows i am a car dealer,i have only bought 2 bikes that were advertised on this site in all my time on it and 1 that belonged to a member but was not advetised on here
3 bikes in 4 years hardly makes me a nick marshall

ravenbyrne rang me a few days ago to ask would i have any interest in his bike and i always thought if something if for sale and you pay what the seller is happy with then you can buy what you want,if i did not pay enough thats hardly my fault.

if you want to have a witch hunt or play get the dealer fine,if someone wants to ban me from the buy and sells section i dont mind.
if what i did is so wrong ban me from the site because as far as i am conserned two good friends of mine were selling there bikes and i gave them a fair price and bought them with my mrs in mind and knowing if she did not use them i would try and sell them on

pps for jim when you would have heard this at the bog roast i had not sold the 2 bikes on i had only sold mide s and i still had jo s does that make it any less of a crime

Well to sell any bike for a profit in the current climate deserves an award. So either the sellers gave the bikes away or Frank found buyers that had not researched the market. I've been looking for a second bike for weeks. I had decided on a nice 04 adventure when this morning I saw €2,500 wiped off the price of another bike I had looked at....... the market's in free fall. So sellers be aware of value & buyers should do the same.

PS...... But I also agree that it would be wrong to take "advantage" of a fellow member here if that happened. We still have no proof.

I do understand what you mean, i sold my gsa for a cheap price on here then heard it got sold on for a profit, i was out of work an needed the money, but thats how it goes ive not got no hard feelings towards the guy who brought it,anybody could have brought it for the same price, i was happy i got what i wanted for it so its not a problem for me.

If a bike is bought and sold on with the intention of making a profit then it's wrong. If bought and then circumstances change (within a reasonable time period) and it is subsequently sold for a profit then original seller should be contacted and agree split of profit...this is right!

Possibly not in this case,i don't know all the facts. But it is very easy to buy a bike at reasonable 'mates rates' then spend quite a bit of cash on it quickly i.e oil/filters/brakes/tyres etc before you know it 500 quid has been spent yet the bike looks the same as when it was bought. If then for whatever reason a decision to sell the bike is made then the question is How to price it?

Obviously if it is a regular occurance then it will spoil what hopefully this site tries to achieve.

Hopefully this case will be resolved without too much bad feeling.

Nonsense.

Any profit is the sellers, it's not a share the previous owner has any kind of right to.
