Have I ruined my engine?

You never know

But does this make it right,
Mistakes do happen - this one fortunately without serious consequences. If this means you no longer have confidence in your dealer go elsewhere. I would like to think that this could not have happened at 'my' dealers in Lyon - that is why we all pay 'over the odds' but ................

I know a guy in Ivory Coast who runs a water pump with an old BMW flat-twin.
Just the engine.
Can't say it's moving much.
Or that the temperature is cold.

It is bombproof.

And hopefully our modern 1200s have kept some of those qualities.

... Always look on the bright side!

The last time I serviced my bike the rubber gasket around the top remained behind when I removed the oil filter. So my bike poured oil everywhere after I'd put a new filter on (i.e I had two rubber gaskets :blast )

No idea about the engine though..... Good luck(I'm sure it's fine, looking at it from the comfort of my sofa) :thumb

It sounds that the dealer staff in charge of your bike is not very pro.
