I’m likely due to change the pads out soon and took a moment whilst cleaning the bike down to have a look at these callipers. I see there are E Clips on the pins… strikes me they look a little awkward to get at and I’m anticipating one pinging to being lost. Of course I can prepare for that by buying some spares but thought I’d ask what others have done…

Looks like the pins are removed using a female torx (E8?) reassembled and torqued to 6nm, is that not good enough itself as on other callipers without the need to fix a retaining E Clip.

I had my wheels off this weekend to fit new tyres and while the bike was up on the bench without wheels, decided to clean the front callipers. The C clips will come of without drama and pinging across the garage if you gently prize them off with a small screwdriver.

Refitting is simple too.

What condition were the calipers in. I renewed the pads and cleaned the calipers 2-3 months ago , 3 years old and 18000 miles and they were like new.

Good. Just gave the callipers and pads/pins a quick scrub with brake cleaner as they were a bit dusty. Bike's only 4.4k so all good.
