dam if I can remember seeing if the head light when on dip should light up,when I put it onto full beam it lights up,but I was sure that both sides light up on the head light, you know, the larger side, and the smaller side, the smaller side is out,but lights up when I flick the switch to main beam.
I have got a light showing the arrow pointing upwards on the display screen,so I would say the bulb is gone, but it don't look bust???

I'm a bit confused by what your saying but:

the dipped beam (larger lamp) comes on when the engine starts and is never off until you switch off the ignition.

The main beam (smaller lamp) comes on/off with operation of the switch.

Your display is telling you the dipped beam bulb is faulty.

ignition on engine off - only your small sidelight and tail light should be on
engine on-just your low beam should be on, both should be on when you flick to main beam. The bulb out could be your sidelight, if not I haven't got a clue, I have heard that if HID's are fitted this can make the bulb warning light come on but hasn't happened to mine yet.

FYI

Failed bulbs are covered under BMW warranty. I had mine replaced at the weekend :D whilst they were replacing the final drive and rear shock:spitfire

Thought you should know.

Path.

Right here is my go at translating this.

You have an arrow on the display, pointing forward. I guess there is also a picture of a lightbulb and the word 'lampe'?

If so, it is more likely than that one of the front bulbs has failed.

(a) It could be the parking light. Mine has never failed, so not sure what the screen may say. Turn on the ignition, wander around to the front and have a look.

(b) It could be the 'dip' light. Easy to tell, just start the engine, walk around the front, look to see if the dip light is on.

(c) It could be the main beam' light. Easy to tell, just start the engine, flip the switch to main beam, walk around the front, look to see if the main beam light is on.

(d) It might be one of the 'spot lamps' - never had a failure so not sure what the screen shows. Again, start the bike, light the spot lamps up and wander around the the front.

If all, some, or any of the bulbs have gone, replace at your leisure, or earlier if it is dark.

When replacing the bulbs(s) take care, plenty of people seem to break the mountings and they are a pain to mend.

When replacing the bulb(s) the failure light on the dash will still show a fault.......until the new bulb has been lit, so you will need to repalce AND START THE ENGINE. After that, the warning should vanish.

If all the bulbs are working and the warning is still lit, it may be a slightly dirty contact (more doubtful) if so clean....with care.

Still lit and all bulbs working? Self-diagnostic fecked or the arrow was pointing backwards and you were simply standing on your head. If so, repeat process at the rear. Brake / tail lights are combined but twinned.

It's all in the handbook.....

Failing that, call BuMW Assist.......

Sounds like a bulbs gone. Had the same happen to me about a month ago. Replaced bulb and warning lamp of bulb with arrow went out.

ok,I know it's a bit confusing, sorry,so here goes,as you look at the head light from the front the larger light of the two is on when engine is started, now the smaller of the two,ie the right hand one as you look at it comes on when I flick the switch to main beam, but!!!! there is no! light on when I flick the main switch off,you see I thought there was a light when I flicked the switch to off main beam,I will look and see if the park light has gone.

yes there is Wapping, but not the word lampe.just the arrow pointing upwards.
Some time next week I fill be fitting HID's,I assume I do both bulbs??
Anyway thanks for your help,it's just that I was sure both sides of the headlight light up,even when on dip...anyway, I am now off to lay down in a darken room:rob
It's the bloody park light, just been and taken it out,
