Well a mates mate has had my heads for 3 weeks now and has tried welding a rod to them and turning them out but everyone has snapped. He cannot pursue it any longer as they have layed off some guys and everyone is expected to take up the slack so rabbit jobs are out.
Does anyone know of a place in the midlands i can take them to get these bloody studs out ?

cheers

I take it you're referring to the exhaust studs?
I had two break in my heads - I took them to a local engineers who used an end mill to bore them out and then helicoiled them. I'd just look in the yellow pages for automotive engineers.

Edit:
While you're at it, if you've put a load of local heat into the heads (gluing welding rods to them etc) have them checked for flatness - it's an arse to put it all back together only to find that your head's warped and leaks (so you have to tear it apart again....). Don't ask me how I know this :blast

The place I used is five minutes from me and I never even knew it was there

Cheers Matt, was a bit nervous who to take it to as i am told there is not much meat to play with, local dealer says spark errosion. Several peeps i know have said "give it here" and i will sort it but don't want any costly mistakes

Spark erosion will work, but any good engineer will be able to drill them out. The place I took mine to is amazing - they do everything from heavy marine diesels to two stroke racers - the machinery in their big shop is quite something and the guys know how to use it.

I'll do some shopping about, could also do with them stripped ready for paint. That oil based stuff is a sod to remove unlike the water based :augie

DEn, I've used a chap in Redditch on the Enfield estate, his name is Paul, he is a biker also, he restores and runs old Brit scramblers. He's done a few jobs for me and is reasonable.

Thanks Matt

The name rings bells. Don't need anything at the moment but always useful to have as a contact.
