Heated Grips on the XR

So in your opinion the grips should become unbearably hot and BMw disagree? :D:D:D

The grips are the old part number from pre 15 GS grips,I kept telling everyone on the XR forums. The new 15 grips on the GS are a different part number and ohm rating as to whats on yours now.
There the ones you need, I did mine ok

That is currently the argument i am having with them

Like I said they think nothing of swapping engines but pike at a hundred quid to sort a problem that is well known but not acknowledged

:clap

Johnny Boxer will be along soon to tell us how hot they are on the 1150 :aidan

Someone will be along soon to say i shouldn't moan as they are standard equipment and as i didn't pay extra for them blah blah

Maybe its time bikes started as a stock standard things and you specced it as you want it then things like shit heated grips would be easier to complain about

This subject has been raised before re the XR....it's quite simple that all the grips left over from 2014/15 GS/Gsa, have now been fitted to the 2016 XR. You can bet when these run out of stock , they will be fitted with 2016 GSA grips, which are superb.

I agree to that all the grips can't be exchanged and retro fitted is aloud of bollocks too ..in fact I know it is

I used my XR heated grips in the Alps a couple of weeks ago. They were fine to take the chill off but there didn't seem to be much difference between low and high. Sadly, like those on my GS LC, they're crap but the bikes great.

Ahhhhh I misunderstood your earlier post, I thought you said that the XR grips were the same part number as the latest GS but were still running colder. My comments about heat dissipation would only apply if they were the later grips.

Latest update on the saga

Got to the dealers after a 40 mile ride with the grips on full and they checked the heat in them with a clever thermometer thingy and it was 33 degrees !
BMW say that it should be between 43 and 48 !

Lets see what tomorrow brings

Mine were crap on my XR as well. Exactly the same as you said. Bm's I had 15yrs ago were too burning hot to use on a mild day. XR grips on a summers day? No problem, barely sweaty palms! Thankfully, the grips on my 15 GS LC, which replaced the XR are MUCH better. :D

And no, I didn't swap my XR just because the grips were shite!

The suspension was harsh as hell, it pulled to the right and the grips vibrated like a bas****! But boy, those issues aside, what a fabulous bike! Just not for me in the long term for what I use my bike for now. I also need my licence for work.

Good luck getting it sorted Redrick. I fear you may need it.
