Hi. I am going to look at a 1150gs tomorrow thats not got heated grips, I was wondering if it is feasable to retro fit them and how much would it cost ?:).
The bike appears to be for sale at a decent price £3,650 for 2001 with 18k.
Any thoughts.

Straightforward enough, the dash will have a blank for the switch, the loom will have the appropriate connector under the tank and the likes of motorworks will more than likely have good secondhand grips, I think the only awkward bit is actually threading the wires through the bars, possibly a couple of holes may be needed. I am fitting some of the aftermarket Oxford ones to my bike this winter, not quite as neat.

r1150gs has bmw handlebar switchgear with heated grip switch
so you may need that as well as just the grips.

If I were you, I'd go for BMW heated grips which are designed for your R1150GS with integral switch. Oxford grips may be cheaper but wont be as good as BMW when fitted. After all BMW accessories and parts carry two year warranty. If this bike you are interested in is from a BMW dealer, ask him to have one fitted as part of a deal! ;)
