If left switched on, when starting the bike, are the heated grips active immediately or (like the headlamp) active when the engine has started...:nenau

Afraid I'm old school, I was taught not to leave the ignition on for a duration without the engine running....:rob

Never mind, I'll work it out for myself...:nenau

So if you're not going to leave the ignition on, without the engine running. why are you asking??? :nenau:nenau:nenau

Anyhow. I've just popped outside to try mine for you. It would appear that, if the ignition is ON, and you do not start the engine, then they do not work....

However, I didn't try running the engine, then stopping it, but leaving the ignition on...

If the battery level is just enough to start the engine, would it be compromised by having the heated grips on ...is my question ?

like the headlight.... engine needs to run for the grips to heat up otherwise they d run the battery down v quickly...

Thank you, so I didn't buy a new battery in haste then. Dark garage, need to go to specsavers, MOT in the morning... :beerjug:

I believe (I think it's hidden in the manual somewhere) that the heated grips are vaguely intelligent. If the battery's low, they won't come on until the bike's run for a bit and got some charge back in there. Under normal circumstances I think they'll run when the engine does.

I bet Soichiro Honda wished he'd thought of that...;) Thanks for your input...:beerjug:

materialistic:

A man parks his brand new BMW R1200GS in front of the office to show it
off to his colleagues. As he's getting off the bike, a lorry comes
speeding along too close to the kerb and takes off the mirror and pannier.

More than a little distraught, he grabs his mobile and calls
the police.

Five minutes later, the police arrive. Before the policeman has a chance
to ask any questions, he starts screaming hysterically: 'My BMW
R1200GS, my beautiful silver BMW1200GS is ruined. No matter how long it's
at the dealers it'll simply never be the same again!'

As he finally finishes his rant, the policeman shakes his head
in disgust. 'I can't believe how materialistic you bloody are,
' he says. 'You are so focused on your possessions that you
don't notice anything else in your life.'

'How can you say such a thing at a time like this?' sobs the R1200GS
owner.

The policeman replies, 'Didn't you realise that your right arm was torn
off when the truck hit you.'

He looks down in horror. 'F***ing HELL!' he screams........
'Where's my Rolex????...'
