Went riding on the Yorks moors today and the temps dropped as we were higher up only to around 9 or 10 degrees …so I tried the heated grips for the first time on my 2015GSA…now i know BMW have cut corners here and there, crap switch gear, shite paint finishes etc…but they have always had the best heated grips in My opinion. But these ??? compared to those I had on my 2010 GSA, I'm very disappointed in the heat coming out of them … i had them on setting number 2 and it was barely warm….im thinking they will really disappoint when the temps drop down to zero ...

Wear some marigolds under your gloves that will solve the not so good heated grip issue, tbh Dave i think there's update for this issue, but your bike being a 15 should have this already done, ask your dealer tho .

Its a fact everybody knows someone called Dave !

Dave :)

You may be thinking the wrong way 1st press is hot 2nd is warm two ticks on dash = hot one = warm

I've had bmws for the last 12 years so pretty clued up on the way they work , i normally push the button once for the double setting as you say , then when warm drop to setting one ,,,,but the double setting was crap. I will ask at the dealership about the upgrade , thanks for the reply

I mentioned this to my nearest dealer the other day & the sales manager informed me there is no update & the heat is speed relative, I didnt want to really tell him I'd ridden the 20 odd miles at 95mph to make my 1pm service appointment so I didn't elaborate.. (germany obviously)

My 2014 TE Heated Grips are shite compared to my Twin Cam GSA, dealer claims no knowledge of a software update either. I'm going to badger them again.

There was an update for the heated grips within a bike update. I got mine done in July when it was in for service.
I was shown bmw puma info about the update and it's because loads of customers are feeling the difference ( that they feel warm rather than how hot they can get on previous models).

Mine post update seem to work better from the off, but is no hotter overall.you used to have to have the engine above certain revs before the grips would work at 100% power, they used to be at 50% power if you started your bike with them on for example and had to turn them off then back on when riding away to get them to work at 100% again!
I would have thought that by now we would all have the latest updates on all our bikes.

The software update I had also showed an update for esa suspension settings and the fuelling.

The service man said that the heated grips do actually pump out the same heat as per previous models and mine were tested as working at the correct heat, but they certainly feel warm not hot like they were on my tc.... and rt...., and k1200s, and r1100s etc.

Used mine while riding the dales last week. They were very warm through my waterproof Held gloves. any more warm and I'd hv to take my hands off the handlebar - not safe  . 2013 TE.

thanks for that Info …..i will be on the blower this week to see what this update is and won't take no its not available for an answer if you have seen it ….i agree they are not as good as previous models

Pidcock were the dealer and it was Ryan who showed me the detailed info.
Rainbow always used to show update info to me too in the past. Useful to know what's being updated on the bike

Heated grips

Hi i have had a 2013 and a 2014 gs and reported this problem on both bikes and got no positive reply from the dealer ,just they are working ok , but compared to previous gs air cooled models certainly not as good , just resorting to fitting Tucano muffs to keep my pinkies warm .

Heated grips

The heated grips seem to vary like gearboxes,
I have grip puppies on and still find the low setting hot enough,,
Is it partly down to the skinny hand guards,,??

Do they really vary that much or is it the gloves and/or the old granddad thick/thin skin? :)

heated grips

Hi , just fitted some TUCANO MUFFS.to the GS, just got back from 100 miles in 6deg/8deg and only had grips on position one ,without muffs they are not effective as previous but with MUffs fantastic ,look Naf but well worth £50.00 ,can ride now any day without frozen fingers .
