Heated hand grips

Holy thread resurrection....As another forum member has just fitted 2015 grips to his early 2014 bike I've decided I'm going to bite the bullet and have a go too.

It turns out there are a lot of options and some sites that show BMW parts have conflicting information. I've pieced together what I found in case it's useful to others.

Sorting through the list and just looking at the new hotter 5.5 ohm ones makes it easier to view.

So as I have a TE with GPS prep and cruise, I need parts 61318552117 for the left grip & 61318552120 for the throttle grip.

Fit some Tucano Urbano muffs and you'll not need the heated grips and still be comfy.

I'm still using my vented summer gloves.

My best investment yet.

They seem to have several different models R3611.R361-1,R317,R334 etc which model did you install?

I've fitted Oxford Hot Grips to my

- Suzuki GSXF
- Honda VFR1200
- Triumph 657R
- Kawasaki ZZR performance Sport
- Bandit 1250 Street Fighter
- Africa Twin DCT

All worked through Winter, no issues, no exceptions... regardless of alloy or metal bars.

£49 for the kits. Fitted them myself. Job done.

My 2017 GSA Heated Grips are toasty as well. So I'm used to Hot Grips and my BMW are good.

My 2017 are very hot on the low setting so much so that I fitted grip puppies over the originals to dissapate the heat.

I'm the lad who fitted the later grips to my early 2014 gsa lc and for me the difference is huge and in a good way.

With the original grips on the highest setting I could barely feel the heat.
Now I have the later hotter grips installed riding to work in the freezing cold is not only more tolerable but safer too.

The highest setting is just nice to pre-heated my gloves palm area and switching down keeps them at a perfect temperature for me.

I don't regret spending the money on the swap, even though I did buy secondhand which saved a load of cash.

I managed to have the heated grips changed by my local dealer on my march 14 GSA as the original ones are crap, BMW said that it was not safe to fit the later grips as the wiring loom might not cope with the later grips and might catch fire !!!! Just a load of bullshit as normal from them, they cocked up and the grips were not fit for purpose but they would not admit it.
Mine have now done over 70,000 miles with no problems:beerjug:

I’ve ordered the throttle side from a breakers just to make sure it works on mine first.
