An interesting bike rear tyre on the front , car tyre on the rear, 3 tyres but only one spare to carry

Brilliant set up.
I've always had a hankering for an outfit but baulked at the negatives...still get wet but can't filter. Never having ridden one I'm sure someone will correct me...Tarka probably

I really miss my years of sidecar rallying...
For me, it was so I could take the kids, and involve them in biking (poor mites!).
But even solo, or two up, it's a brilliant way to travel, and huge fun!

In my experience of having an outfit, the biggest negatives are people staring the bleeding obvious re wet and traffic, and being asked if an 800 is powerful enough......????

I only had the outfit for a year but did 34,000 miles with it. Mostly between New York, Fairbanks Alaska and Ushuaia in Argentina.
Yes I got stuck in traffic, yes I got wet and yes the F800GS was more than powerful enough.
Back to solo now though due to total life change.

Sidecars are brilliant fun. Weather - what weather? I have a 1500 Goldwing/Charnwood Royale - yes it's a bit of a bus but by f*** it's a laugh. I've had them 32 years now getting into them so I could take the kids along - they get in your blood. Had the pleasure of meeting young Tarka and his Ural at the Dragon Rally a few years back.

Thanks Andi - I enjoyed that.

Excellent video, thanks for sharing....brought back some happy memories of outfit riding, when my lads were small. Owned a number of different outfits of 20 years, and if I had to I'd do it again with something like Helge's setup. :beerjug:

After i passed my test (1966) i had a 650 BSA gold flash with a Stieb great fun to ride but no filtering, if i am going to be stuck in traffic in the pissing rain i'll be in my car thanks.

I dont understand these... why not have a trike instead?

Have you seen a Wehrmacht trike ever? No room to mount the MG, better to sleep in the sidecar and you can use a Nazi helmet without attracting to much attention in Poland:D
