just had a low battery start so abs did not set , after charging battery warning lights still flashing any ideas on how to reset please ? PC

Knowing what bike you've got might help us :o

I'm guessing that after the warning you switched off the ignition, charged the battery and tthen tried again with the same flashing ABS lights?

Need to know, 1100 or 1150, both re-set using the same method, but different connections to re-set

yes sorry I`m talking about a 1150 gs

y 1150 ABS is also playing up after numerous battery faults, I have been told that it may just need resetting, so help here would be appreciated

This worked on my 02 1150 (non servo):

"Here's a slightly more extensive procedure I found.
I've done it like this and it worked. So I think 1 minute is overdoing it a bit

1) Turn ignition off.
2) Remove the seat.
3) Locate the diagnostics plug behind the battery.
(It's for diagnostics so is not connected to anything).
4) Connect an end of wire to the brown/blue wire pin .
5) Clip the other end firmly to ground.
6) Turn ignition on. Note that the two ABS lights continue flashing alternately.
7) Hold ABS button down for 8 seconds.
The bottom ABS light should stay on, the top one off.
Release the ABS button.
8) If the reset is successful, both ABS lights come on.

If you didn't count to 8 or your ground is not good, then the top ABS light stays off. Start again and/or try pressing the ABS button before turning ignition

thanks, havent had chance to try it but will let you know, am assumingb that the bkue plug at th front under of tank must be the diagnostic one, no sign of any under seat..

Hi Neil,

Got the same problem with my 02 1150GSA after numerous low battery occurances. I have fitted a new gel battery but ABS won't set.

Is Spout's reset process the right way to go for my bike?

Cheers

Steve

ABS Reset!

Yep, that worked for me too! Saved me a day off work and a trip to Glasgow to the dealers, so thank you UKGSer and all those who post!! :thumb

Just read this thread! Thought I messed up real good with the abs. Accidently sent it into fault mode,....don't ask. Anyway dealer wanted £80 to reset it, gave this a go and it worked a treat. Thanks.

many thanks

Cheers Fellas,

I was going to take my GS into Bluebell Crewe to get the ABS checked out as it was only working intermittently.

the wire to earth trick seems to have done the trick, tried her a few times and the ABS locks in every time after pull-away

abs reset

Thank you Spout. You've saved me having annoying flashing lights over christmas.
Pukka info, cheers.:beerjug:
