I want to remove the side stand on my 04 ADV, as a welding friend of a friend is gonna put a piece in the length to make it longer... You can't beat a bit of length... :chewstick

I looked at it the other day, with my adjustable in hand, expecting to find a nut on the rear. I didn't. There is a circlip on the front... Is this the only thing holding it on (excepting the electrical connection) ?

The plan is, as it's hollow, to cut it an inch from the foot, put a piece of bar up inside to strengthen it, then weld a piece about 300mm to make it longer...

If someone can tell me how to remove it, and it works, maybe I can get this guy to do others, as they all seem a bit short....

Thanks for looking :gosh

ps I can understand the smilies, very good, but why Tesco? tesco

bloody hell, what sort of suspension have you got..

Why not bolt a 1/2" thick aluminium plate to the sidestand foot? Lengthens it & can give a bigger footprint to stop it sinking in soft ground:

No. it does not drag on left handers.

Oops... Should've been 30mm......

If it's anything like the stand on the 1200, you have to remove the circlip that's on the outside, and then get a hex (Allen) key round the back to remove the bolt.
