HELP spot lights please

Sorry miff
Don't know what you mean ,they are connected to loom that bmw does for their fog lights
Cheers

I still question the need for a relay as its an OEM loom and only runs off an On/Off switch with seperate fuses. Its not being triggered by anything else, its powered via the main loom so why a relay

The bike uses a relay (6) plus two 7.5 amp fuses.

Hi kenny
Thanks this is exactly what I have used.i just cut off plugs that go to spots and soldered onto my HIDs should be straight forward. seems this problem has
Flummoxed everyone else as we'll as me eh?
I have just had a thought!!! would it be that I might have reversed live and earth on bmw loom to spots ? Would they still work or not at all?
Cheers

I think you should have bought them from Les at hid50.com then at least you could discount the ballasts and lights as being iffy, can you try swapping a ballast with someone else's ?

Have you got a dvm?

I would be checking all points of the circuit to see where I do and dont have voltage.

Are you trying with the engine running? (Im sure my 1200 used to send no power to lights on ignition on with no engine running? I could have imagined it though....)

Hth.

Hi mate
Yeh tried different ballasts, different bulbs,so not sure problem lies with hid kit ,and yes your right only get Power when engine running.
Tried wiring straight to battery last night ,no switch,no loom,no relay just a fuse
And one still went out......?
Thanks again

Not much help but I would not give up hope. I fitted a set of HIDs from Les, and it just connected up to the OE BMW wiring loom (prob as you say); it really was plug and play (plus up grade fuse).
Bound to be someone here who can hit the nail.
Oh, on the wiring; Les's kit came with some real heavy wiring to the ballast and igniter. Course that then went straight to the BMW loom - ignore me.
What about a JPEG so others in the thread know what you are using?

Good luck.

So the fault lies either with the HID kits OR the battery.

PS. What size fuse are you using?? IIRC HIDS need quite a heavy fuse? I would stick a 20 amp fuse in to try it.

Hi miff Just checked fuses mate 7.5 So i will up them to ten first I think, then fifteen then twenty an stick with whichever works , if it works?
Thanks for your suggestions everyone.
Will let you all know what the outcome is with fuses
Cheers all
