Hi all,
I have a zumo 550 hardwired to my bike aswell as bike to bike coms via autocom superpro avi.problem is try as i might when someone phones me i can hear them but for some reason they cannot hear me.can play and listen to music, when i speak i can hear my voice no probs through speakers.it's probably something really stupid, doh!.
your help is appreciated & before the usual lot start mumping whats this got to do with 1200gs's its fitted to one.

Autcom

Have you used the correct cable to hardwire through to autocom. Its a 4066 i think. It has a mic and speaker cable at one end to fit your zumo cradle and a single 4 pole end to fit your autocom. The 4 pole end should only be plugged into aux 1 on autocom if memory serves me correct. Worth a shot. :augie

If this is the non-new-digital Autocom then Have a look at the Zumo forum as this was a common fault and there is only one successful way to do it. You need an autocom bluetooth dongle that you pair to the zumo as headphones. The phone is paired to zumo as phone, then it all works tip top. :beerjug:

I was told the same thing.. As the bluetooth dongle was over £70 I didn't bother. Still can't answer calls but i'll cope. ;)

Yep,
dual cable fitted on zumo cradle & yes its aux 1 for that cable as you suspected. it's a pre 2009 super pro avi & is capable of doing what i want it to do. even though at present its not playing ball.

Is the phone an I phone? I recently had the same problem with a 660. Spent a bundle getting all the correct leads etc but still would not work. Paired an old spare Nokia I had with the system and voila, working perfect. Retested I phone( latest software on all devices) and the problem was back. Just sharing for info, might help you.

I had a similar problem with the Tomtom the phone paired with the sat nav but needed to pair with the autocom as well. Else get it hard wired to the autocom and use the sumo pairing for the directory and other touch screen functions.

As you decided not to tell us what phone you are trying to pair to your 1200 GS mounted Autocom super pro avi (2009) and Zumo 550 system, let's guess that it's a 'modern' stereo phone.

If so, it's quite possible that your 'old' Autocom (whilst fully capable of dealing with an 'old' phone) is simply auto-muting the mike channel when you use your 'modern' phone but not when you gibber bike-to-bike or rider-to-pillion. Have you tried using another phone? If so, with what result?

It's a problem commonly reported here:

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=202

along with assorted threads offering fixes, which may (or may not) work. The fixes range from ensuring all your plugs are pushed in tight (obvious one to start with, I thought) through a gamut of suggestions (which will keep you busy) right up to and including a bit of light soldering inside the Autocom unit.

Talking of Autocom, a call to them on Monday may well set you straight. One tip: Don't call them from your 1200 GS, or they won't be able to hear you ;)

PS A surf through this may turn up something, too:

i've tried a nokia 6303 & a blackberry bold 9700 and was talking nonsense, it's connected to aux 4 which is for gps/etc.the annoying thing is i can receive & hear & it's crystal clear, the mic cuts in when i speak as is supposed to.other half said she could hear me occasionally but it was that muffled she couldn't make out what i was saying & thats with the bike stationary.tried another mic & same outcome.I'll just have to keep faffing to make sure i've covered all bases before i look at another unit.I'll try chainspeed their pretty clued up in all things autocom.:beerjug:
Late reply due to extremely rare occurrence,HOT WEATHER IN SCOTLAND,would effing believe it?????????

I spoke to Autocom a number of times when I was having issues with my set up (different circs to what you're experiencing), and found them to be very helpful and clued up.

Try giving them a call: 01480 399504 :thumb2

I bought the Autocom A2DP Bluetooth dongle to get the iPhone and/or Tomtom rider 1 working with my old Pro7 Sport. The instructions said to cut off the single wire power supply jack and run it off the Autocom, which caused an earth loop feedback issue. No external earth wire to put on a different ground source.

I gave up in the end, bluetooth dongle was an expensive folly and too much hassle. I hope you have better luck.

Haven't had a chance to look at all the links but a problem I've come across is that the canbus cuts the voltage to accessories whne you engage the starter ( but the circuit is probably live from when you switch on.) and that may be when the bluetooth is pairin

If this is the case you have to switch the Zumo off / onm again and re- pair it

HTH

zumo & autocom powered as soon as ignition is on,zumo boots up & then pairs fone.by that time everything is powered and bike running.

admittedly, no not really but the fact that the equipment should do it is getting the better of me,awaiting response from autocom.

The problem is your Super Pro AVI - same as I had. The solution is to remove a small component - marked 220 - from the circuit board you will find details on this site or on the Zumo site. It takes 30 secs and problem will then be gone forever. There is no other solution other than to upgrade your Autocom box - it was produced before smart phones were around!

from my experience it should work fine. I have a, Zumo 500, superpro avi and a smart phone. I have my headset/mic hard widred to the autocom. The autocom is connected via bluetooth to the zumo and teh phone is connected via bluetooth. I either plug my ipod or phone via the headset port into teh autocom for music - if i get a call I answer via the zumo which then reduces the sound of the audio from the ipod ( if I use the phone it mutes completely but thats the phone doing it). Even though the system I have is 2007 (probably the same vintage as you) it works fine. Also if my wife is on teh back we both hear the music which also then mutes if we talk. The phone is a HTC Sensation, prior to that I had a Desire and prior to those various nokias. All have worked fine.
