Help !!!

Socket
thanks will check that. My old GS is a 2005 model will it have these micro switches?
Thanks though for your input

The ignition switch can be removed from the ignition lock, but it is fiddly unless you strip off the front beak frame.

Socket
Are the micro switches integral or can they be replaced separately. The bike is with a local independent workshop/ dealer as I thought it would need his gs911 to find fault, but he said no fault showed up!! I do trust this guy so will pass on your info and hopefully get the old girl working as I need to get up to my old stomping ground asap
Thanks once again guys.its very frustrating when sometimes the answer to probs seems out of reach.

If your man has a 911 he will be able to see if the switches are working without taking everything apart. He can also see all the computers live and what they are doing. If he can't do this he isn't as good as you think he is.

A GS911 is way more than just a fault code reader.

once you get at the switch's a shot of contact cleaner into the switch will sort the problem out most of the time,
if switch needs changing you can get one in maplin for a couple of pounds.

Socket I'm being cheeky here but do you know the switches ref number at Maplins. I am searching the BM forums for a wiring diagram for my 2005 model.
Once again mucho thanks for all you guys help. It's been a stressful week and didn't really need bike probs on top of real probs.

Yep Doc but but
The weird thing is the motor fires everything about that is normal just the weird no indicators, horn brake lights etc. I would have thought that if the ecu was out surely the motor wouldn't run. Also forgot to mention fuel, temp, trip miles, lcd display working ok. I'm off for a bath so guys expecting a eureka moment from some one!!!!!!

Engine ecu is completely separate from the ZF unit. ZF unit is basically a fancy fuse box that controls the lights, indicators, horn and stuff. Make more sense now?

As Marki has stated. Your problem is on the circuit that controls the indicators/horn/brake lights. If one of those is faulty it will affect the others as they all use the same (canbus) wire.

Guys I'm going bedy byes happy in that you folk have put me on the right path. Thanks once again. If anyone ever but ever needs any help with Baader fish processing machinery just call on me. Just joking nighty night.

That's a bugger but at least you know now. Get a hold of James Sherlock or motorworks and see if they have a used one the trick is going to be getting one that will match your bike. No idea how much a new one is but I suspect it won't be cheap.

Thanks Marki it is a bugger. I thought about ditching it and buying a oldie cheapie with no bl**dy computers. But with being a carer for the wife I can't go far anyway, well there are far worse things in life. I'll rethink my biking days as I'm nearly seventy. Maybe take to reading or drinking no not fishing Ben!! Thanks guys for all your help.

Often wondered how hard it would be to convert back to a fuse box. Your engine runs so that's sorted. Switchgear would need changed a new set of clocks would be needed I think. Not that you would, I am just thinking out loud.

Yea why all this techie stuff. In my long ago life I had to look at make work a camera system for discriminating scad mackerel for rejecting them from a herring processing machine which was running at over 150 fish a minute these scads would jam the machine. But the camera lens got splashed and always caused probs. I dont know if they have it sorted now ( knowing our German friends probably yes) Sometimes the idea never reaches reality and maybe until we reach a state of complete reliability for automotive electronics if ever!!! Bring back fuses or even circuit breakers. Well maybe not dunno to old.
