Hi All,

I have now had my 12OOGS a month now and loving every minute  -I'm sure that there is no better bike out there (VFR VTECH before) , but have the following minor niggles and wondered if anyone can assist:

1.The screen rattles at low speed.
2.The front brake squeaks at low speeds and coming to a standstill.
3.It uses a lot of oil from full to empty in 2200miles, is this the norm?
4.Am I able to adjust the back brake as have to push it nearly to the bottom for it to activate.
5.Is there any more cost effective (cheaper) options for the top box (have got panniers with bike)?

Any help will be most gratefully received.

Top box.............try a Givi/Kappa or don't bother - buy a Tailpack from TT or Wunderlich

Topboxes are goddamn awful anyway........................

1. I've got one of Nippy's taller/Secdem screens and that vibes at tickover. As soon as the engine has any load on it, the vibes go.

2. The front brakes do have a tendency to squeal a bit. I believe is a dealer fix which involves different disc-mounting bolts.

3. Empty-to-full on the sight glass is about half a litre of oil? And yes, it will use oil for about the first 12-18,000 miles. If you do a search you'll find pages and pages and pages on oilhead oil consumption.

4. As the bike has linked brakes, and mine ate through a set of rear pads in less than 5k miles I rarely use the rear pedal now.

5. Get a 2nd hand Givi/Kappa and mounting plate off Fleabay. I was fortunate in having one given to me, but you can pick them up quite cheaply.

If you just want a small cheap top box, I can recomment a Givi e350

I use one (yes I know top boxes look horrid), and its ideal to put a laptop into for to/from work, and will hold one helmet.

Hien Gericke used to sell them.
Ebay for £55, I bet thats cheaper than B*W.

Thanks everyone-just one more thing-what is the general concensus on Tyres-road riding only.

Someone has mentioned Mezeler Tourance? At moment have got Dunlop, which seem good.

Thanks
