Precisely the reason I closed the thread...acerbic, now that's mild. Helpful it wasn't.

I bet if I went ahead with the dealer (oh and by the way - disc does not need replacing...)and went ahead with the work because I had no inclination to work something out for myself, I'd have been called a fucking chimp too...

Makes no difference to my replies or how i view someones reply how many posts anyone has, in fact i'd be happy if the post count was deleted.

Some do take it all a bit seriously. Usually the twats.

They're on their way, with the other bits as well BTW.......the standard make and break relay was out of stock so I chucked in the same thing for the same purpose but with an integral diode fitted......a bit more normally but not worth bothering about

I can't say I take much notice of post counts either..but when you do see a post which 'has attitude' it often seems to come from a member who seems to think they own the place. But that's more of a sign of their mentality rather than their number of posts. I normally think that if somebody has a huge amount of posts, then they've probably invested a lot of time and effort into the site.

Maybe the high post count tells you that they've seen it all before. Many, many times, and don't take it too seriously.
There are some on here with very low post counts but have been around for years. They lurk in the shadows and throw in the odd, usually well timed, grenade. These folk also......don't take it too seriously.
There are also some excellent newbies....who don't take it too seriously.

....are you starting to see a trend.

One thing is certain on here. If you're the sort that 'bites', then you're going to be busy. Chill the fuck out.

You obviously thought it a piss take. We all love the site for its piss taking, that was clear targeted cyber bullying. As mod you clearly don't find it offensive, in fact you seem to encourage abuse, that's fine but as a mod you set the tone so expect newbies to not want to ask questions or subscribe.

I started this thread because I happened to think that it was OTT and I wanted to say so. Job done.

I am chilled out, totally, just responding to the thread.

What wasn't chilled out was Wapping's reply in the link, that was offensive and insulting...if that was directed at me after asking a perfectly innocent question, then I think I would be offended by it, and have something to say about it. As it happens the op handled it very calmly.

I've locked horns with Wapping on a few occasions, and although he does contribute a few informative posts, there are also a lot of 'opinionated' aggressive posts....so now I just ignore all his involvement in the site. Life's too short to have petty squabbles on Internet forums.
