Well bike has been back on road about 4 weeks after off road for 3 weeks as it took 8 weeks for BMW (not dealer) to deliver all parts for a new final drive to be fitted. Everything ok until last weekend when came to start bike which fired up but died straight away, 20 attempts to start then battery flat.
Called emergency services, and technician came, he seemed to know fault, you guessed it fuel pump or to be more precise the can bus controller on top of the fuel pump. Amazingly technician was carrying spare part which he replaced jumped battery and bike started. Sunday came bike was running like a pig, revs were erratic when stood still trying to keep at 3000rpm, they fluctuated between 2000rpm and 5000 rpm yet when ridden it was ok. Tried biking on Wednesday night everything ok.
Friday night (18/11/04) not wishing to be caught out like last week and missing half a days riding I thought I would start bike and check ok.
Well you guessed it. Bike started then died straight away, after 10 attempts it started and would idle but as soon as I gave it any throttle it died.
So Saturday I wont be again riding my bike as I have pre arranged recovery for 7.30am Sat morning, to take to dealers to hopefully fix. Just what I need after a stressful week at work.
If this is the going to continue to happen I will have to think again whether I want a BMW, I love the 1200 but its got to be reliable, so far it has not.
