Tom, cleaning is just a good old fashioned scrubbing with soap and water but the treatment comes from a rubber treatment paste that I was given by BMW some years ago:
I have no idea what it costs for a tube. That number on the white bit near the bottom of the tube is the part number. 82 14 9 407 015

It's good stuff, it certainly works and you don't need much to do the job. That tube of mine is best part of twenty years old and has kept car wiper blades etc going for years when they start to graunch, a quick dab wiped in with a finger does wonders.

I know you're been working hard on this K Mike but I can't wait to see it rebuilt, I've enjoyed all the 3 K's you're clean/retored. And all this from a non biker....
Front discs before:
After cleaning the corrosion from the inner radius of the disc, the ABS ring and then the centres rubbed down and painted:
All the various bits of the front callipers sorted ready for re-assembly:
Re-assembled (lots of Alumslip on the screws this time):
Rear brake piston to ABS modulator hose, banjos cleaned and hose treated:
Brake pedal before cleaning:
After:
Rear calliper stripped and ready for the same treatment as the fronts:
I managed to carefully remove the paint that had been squirted over the coil cover and gave it a buffing-up:
I still haven't got anywhere near the point that I can attack the frame or the engine, gearbox and drive shaft casings.

Wonderful job you are making of that, it's a real inspiration. Now I am torn, my K75 is partly dismantled, new clutch etc should be here this week. My problem is I have to get the bike registered here in Austria. There is a first registration tax around 16% of it's value. If I follow your lead and make a proper job of it they may sting me for a lot of tax, however it would be more satisfying to go that route. On the other hand maybe I should put it back together more or less as is, get it registered and then strip it down again. The bike has to be running to be registered as it has to pass our MOT equivalent test.
Post a few more pictures of your work and I think the decision will be made. Can't wait to see it finished.

Just spent a fruitful half hour on these:
They can go into the box of finished bits:
The final coat on the fork brace is hard enough for a polish but I'll leave that for later:
Paint is curing on the footrest plates and the lower half of the tail unit. The major parts that are left in the pile are the handlebars, the ABS modulator mounting frame, both the mesh grilles from the radiator and bellypan and the replacement exhaust heat shield (courtesy of Bob Southgate).
Then there are a number of smaller brackets such as the footrest mountings to do before I whip off the swing arm housing, final drive and gearbox. The alternator and starter still have to come out and all the wiring needs cleaning.
The big jobs that will take time are the frame stripping and painting plus the wheels. I'd hoped that the bare ali just needed cleaning and the paint scrubbing and polishing but under the brake dust the paint has lifted in too many places so they need re-spraying and that means that the bare ali detailing needs to be masked after it has been polished. The same goes for the crank and cam covers.
The exhaust headers are still on. They be off for a polish before much longer.
Good job the weather is so bad.

Continuing with the brakes, I stripped the front master cylinder piston:
All is in good order so it was cleaned before re-assembly:
The other ABS modulator and it's rigid brake lines that run from the footrest location right up to the headstock has been awaiting some attention, so it got it:
I decided that some re-assembly therapy was in order and having finished re-spraying the tail unit lower, I could at least clean and re-fit the indicator and tail lamp sub-loom, then re-fit it and the lights:
The footrest plates are currently drying:
So I set about splitting the footrests from their various mounting parts:
Individual parts for cleaning and some for re-painting:
While the painted parts are drying, I cleaned what's left:
I reckon that there's still another month or two of work still to go.
