I saw one this afternoon.....a guy on a white ST1100 wearing a similar hi-viz jacket. He'd had the good grace not to wear a white lid. I think there's something a bit sad about people who tread close to the line of impersonating a Police Officer.
Where was it, sounds like one of the guys on the shift. I'll ask at work tomorrow. Was it a black lid?
Tomorrow in the comfort and privacy of my own home...........I will be wearing this![]()
As someone who used to wear this stuff at work, I'm not convinced it aids conspicuity when on a bike (except perhaps being seen in a rear view mirror and that's of questionable benefit).
The idea of this stuff for police is not as an aid when on the bike, it's for when you are off it at the side of the road dealing with something.
I wear standard workmans HiViz wear on the commute and it has the same miraculous effect of instantly turning slack, selfish arsehole drivers into model driving citizens and it keeps you drier than Arizona
Thank you Neil!

as always - your own brain is the best safety device you got![]()
Just don't become too reliant on wearing HI VIZ and assuming the the general driving public will see you on a bike.

If it stops 1 twot out of 100 from pulling out on you / cutting you up it would get my
Don't have one myself though![]()

id be worried about the other 99![]()
Back to this fecking Hi Viz bollox,if you`re not careful, you'll end up thinking you`re invincible or visible to all.....and still come a cropper courtesy of the feckwit switching lanes or leaving a junction without looking.
A very sad Thread.
And some very sad people.
You`ll only be seen by those who look.
Hence it matters not one fecking jot what you wear.
All these Dayglo Dereks in their please don`t knock me down gear or daytime lights are just shifting the onus on bike riders to make it their responsibilty to ensure every feckwit sees (and more importantly reacts correctly to seeing) a bike rider rather than hammering home the message that when behind the wheel of a car/truck/van/coach/bus/HGV the driver is a vehicle operator with a great responsibility towards the safety and well being of all other road users.
Those who dropped their mobiles or whatever only did so because they happened to look at the time and thought they may have been about to be done for it.
The feckers know they shouldn`t but don`t give a shite if they think they can get away with it.
Hence all the pissed drivers, uninsured drivers, untaxed drivers, etc etc.
