hello

has anyone fitted an hid lighting kit to their 1200gs? if so where is the best place to get it from?and what sort of cost?

thankyou!:thumb2

The search function is your best friend here. Loads of information. I had mine done by Les a couple of years ago and am delighted with the results.

Got mine from Zerocool, look on the vendors of innovation thread.

No probs with them at all really good price and they are 'bright'!

Les will sort you out a kit and bespoke mounting bracket for the ballast.

Another vote for Les Wassal...sells an excellent piece of kit that comes complete with spot on fitting instructions, you just got to get the kettle on before you start if you want to follow them to the letter!

I'd offer you a chance to check mine out as you're only up the road from me in Sheff, but I'll not be back from Saudi for a couple of months.......of course if you're in no hurry.........

Another vote for Les, the difference after is like night and day, you are very visible during the day, at night the pace can still be kept up. The lights are pants as standard. Beware some others, yes you can get cheaper, but for me approaching a bend, at night, in the rain, car coming toward me, the last thing I want to be thinking about is headlight failure, you get what you pay for. Cheers, you wont regret it.

I have spent months trying to decide what to do with the main beam output on my 12GSA. Currently I have both dip and main converted to 50 watt HID's and the Adventure fogs are still the 55 watt H11's. Normal day running and dipped operation is about as good as its going to get I think and don't see the real benefit to upgrade the fogs to HID other than making them bluish in colour. The problem is with the main beam. IMHO the reflector is the limiting factor. The OEM output is laughable, the HID conversion is better but not that much and it takes a few seconds to warm up. I find this disconcerting when I switch onto main beam or flash someone having to wait for it to warm up. So my question is, do I buy a set of standard H7 Hella's and fit these up as spots and keep the main as the HID, or do I buy upgraded Hella's (HID) and revert to standard H7 in the headlight? Not withstanding the cost implications of converted to HID Hella FF50's which I don't know.

The other problem concerns mounting. There is a Migsel light bar which is for the Adventure model. Does anyone have one which can take both the standard OEM fogs and also a pair of Hella FF50's? Les's mounting bar will take the ballast but not the lights. I'm hoping the Migsel can take both sets of lights, some HID ballast and a Stebel Nautilus horn. Anyone done this? Anyone else's light bar do this?
