Having been locked out of the bike for 4 days in Ireland with EWS failure and the possibility that electrical interference might have ben the culprit am I tempting fate by considering fitting HIDs to my '07GSA? I understand that HIDs jack up the voltage to a couple of thousand volts with presumably increased magnetic fields to match. Bikes I've seen with HIDs seem to have the ballast units fitted close to the ignition switch and therefore the EWS ring. I'd love HIDs but are they likely to increase the chances of repeated EWS failure?

mines next to the ignition box,,,,,on an 1150 though, but its all ok,

Ran with 4 ballasts on a Les Wassall bracket on my previous 1200 for 10000 miles with not a hint of a problem with the ring antenna, on the new bike the antenna went with 355 miles on the clock:blast

I had Les's HID on my 1200 with the ballasted fitted to a bracket under the beak- no problems at all- going to transfer the HID's to my GSA- top kit:thumb2

EWS failed before Les Wassall HIDed my '07 gs last year. Ballasts under oil cooler and, so far, it's been fine.
