Why don't you contact Geoff and he can correct you. The original map is not overwritten.
For example if you write a sub routine, does it replace or modify the standard program ?

I've watched bikes being built at the Triumph factory and they test them on a rolling road, I've seen video's of BMW doing similar. I'm guessing most motorcycle manufacturers do the same.
I look forward to you posting any replies from any of them here, once you've advised them where they are damaging our brand new bikes before we even get them.
Or do your bikes get new tyres fitted after the dyno testing ?

The original map remains as standard - throughout the time you have a Hilltop map installed.
It just isnt accessed.
When a Hilltop map is removed - the control falls again to the OEM software.
I think most of us have got your message by now.
Brand new, unused tyres being used on a rolling road by the motorcycle manufacturers.

The hilltop software goes in the memory of the chipset not used by the OEM software. It interacts with the OEM software and thus alters the mapping of the OEM parameters if I can call it so. If you want it removed then it is simply uninstalled. As for tyre damage, whatever you do don't pull the straps down so hard the tyres are squished, the straps are used to keep the bike in position. And for meager output of the GS you don't need to worry about the tyre slipping on the rollers. Leave that for 600+ bhp machines 0-62 in 1.5 sec class cars.
No need to fret about mileage and petrol and tyres. You can send your ECU by post. And as Tractors said and I've seen it with me own 2,5 eyes the bikes goes on dyno at the factory and ragged to an inch of their life just after being filled with fluids.

The additional sub routines will be deleted from the spare capacity in the non volatile memory; that's how blue fin do it for cars although they used to piggyback an extra control unit ala power commander.
In theory if you go down to reading binary you can see what's been changed, but you need to know standard to modified.
Although it is around 40 years since I did my computing modules, I can probably still do binary/hex/ascii if you want to send it over for me to read.

Well there are losses.
Your time is lost …Worth the waste
Your fuel used to get there, have your bike raped on a rolling road, and fuel home is lost .. get free fuel
Your rear tyre can be damaged on the rolling road while its strapped down and could be lost .. I do more damage on a sunday going to the garage
Disgruntled rolling road staff issuing refunds isn't going to happen unless they take their map back off your bike, reinstall your old map and tell you to bugger off.... and hope they do it properly. More time and agro.
All for what?? A better bike , better fueling and a big smile

1) unless you go down to reading machine code, how are you going to know it has been done.
2) Assuming that you are almost as good an Engineer as our Engineer, on here, you will be able to identify the specific cause for failure, put your opinion in writing and; stand up at court and evidence your conclussions, then have expert testimony against you. Who as an example have a Bsc (hons) Msc and is a CEng too. BUT if it did go your way and Perry Mason was your lawyer and you prove you are correct.
Then of course, I would have proven evidence that the 3rd party work was defective, in some way, and I now claim against them.
So who cares who pays the bill, as long as it isn't me.
There are lots of different options to choose from, and unlike you, I would not be so restricted in my thoughts as to say that other people's choices are wrong. They are right for them.
Their bike, their money, their decision.
It comes down to respect, something you are sadly lacking.
