Hilltop - is it worth it?

Jack and Jill went up the Hill
To flash a R1200
Jack rode hard with his new chart
And the bill came tumbling after

Up Jack got and home did trot
After his afternoon caper
He went to his shed scratching his head
With his new power on paper

Is there such a body in the UK? I don't think so.....

If you actually mean the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, based in Birdcage Walk, this would be 'membership' and is not a qualification per se. Affiliate membership is available to anyone with an interest in mechanical engineering.

BTW, it doesn't mean that you're wrong about Hilltop - they are making a killing by simply richening bikes. All power (excuse the pun) to them!

No to get full membership is a qualification. Took another 5 yrs after the degree. It’s skill based, not academic.

The Warrior from Walsall has spoken!

Our "Bandit riding European Adventurer",
"Master of Magical Moist Manoeuvres,"
"King of the Ring",
"Deployer of the fabled Jizz Gun"
Our very own Dilettante on all motorcycling matters!

He's taken precious time off from worshipping at the temple of narcissism to strut over here in freshly dried Enduro boots and deliver his swift rebuke to our silly ill informed ways!

All hail the "Magnificence from the Midlands", for we are not worthy!

:bow:bow:bow :D

You may leave my court now.

You have entertained sufficiently :D

Fair enough, and it's always a personal choice as to what you do with your own bike :beerjug:

Over the years on this forum a lot of stuff has been posted about Hilltop. The detractors (most of whom have never been) views have included; it's all faked, it can be seen by dealers and will invalidate your warranty, you won't get insurance, your engine will explode within a few thousand miles, the emissions will kill children, it will all get wiped by a dealer software upgrade, etc.etc.

As more people have been the body of evidence has increased and a number of things have become much more certain including:
The after figures are accurate and you get a well fuelled bike
Insurance isn't a problem and warranty claims have been settled
Dealers can't see the software and upgrades don't affect it
Engines have done good mileages with no issues

And probably the most important bit is that by far and away the biggest majority of people who have been are extremely satisfied with the results. There are a couple of folk who weren't happy ( and made a lot of noise on this forum) but they are very much in the minority and Geoff also offers a full refund if you're not satisfied.

The real test of any business providing a service is the feedback from its customers and Hilltop score very highly in this regard, which is why they get so much repeat business.

So there you go, you pays your money and you makes your choice. You could of course easily blow the same amount of dosh on various bits of bolt in shite :D
Could say much the same about Reiki.

So, you're not a fan of HT then:D

It's a bit like all those people who tell everyone they meet, that they're not homosexual.

He doth complain too much

I would definitely have my bike Hilltopped yes. I can see they have a lot of experience :thumb2

But knowing what you get, in some cases it's just not worth it; like my standard 2017 R1200GS Adventure the fuelling is good enough so not worth bothering.

If I bought a brand new R1250 Adventure as standard I'd leave it as it was, as it's not worth bothering.

If I bought a race bike, or a superbike, or started messing with different cam profiles, straight through exhausts, higher octane fuel, then I would happily go to Hilltop (under a heavily disguised secret shopper type of way). As the gains would then be worth it, in a form factor that's designed for those increases. :bounce1

In my opinion.

My late 14 bike does have a very noticeable flat spot around 5k which can kick in at the most inconvenient times (overtakes). It’s a minor annoyance but I can see why people want it dialled out in fairness.

I suspect part of the point of shiftcam was to not have to lean out the mixture at that point and maybe why it fuels much better.

I wouldn’t pay £300 to “potentially” dial it out though. £200 and I might bite ( no I’m not Scottish ). Dialling out flat spots would be the only expectation of the process for me.

Disclaimer - No offence to tight Scottish members, other tight nationalities are available, albeit less prevelant.

I am Dr. Bakare Tunde, the cousin of Nigerian Astronaut, Air Force Major Abacha Tunde. He was the first African in space when he made a secret flight to the Salyut 6 space station in 1979. He was on a later Soviet spaceflight, Soyuz T-16Z to the secret Soviet military space station Salyut 8T in 1989. He was stranded there in 1990 when the Soviet Union was dissolved. His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home.

In the 14-years since he has been on the station, he has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost $ 15,000,000 American Dollars. This is held in a trust at the Lagos National Savings and Trust Association. If we can obtain access to this money, we can place a down payment with the Russian Space Authorities for a Soyuz return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost $ 3,000,000 American Dollars. In order to access the his trust fund we need your assistance.

Consequently, my colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount to your account or subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants are prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau (Civil Service Laws) from opening and/ or operating foreign accounts in our names.

Needless to say, the trust reposed on you at this juncture is enormous. In return, we have agreed to offer you 20 percent of the transferred sum, while 10 percent shall be set aside for incidental expenses (internal and external) between the parties in the course of the transaction. You will be mandated to remit the balance 70 percent to other accounts in due course.

Please provide your Bank Account Details immediately :D

Dear Sirs or Madam,

I thank you for your mostly humble and speedily response.

Had I been aware that you had access to such magnificent bountifulness I would have engaged more and sought a larger amount of your mulla sought that, on your exalted behalf I could extend your largesse upon those famed camel tuners Hilliest Topious.

Obviously, dealing with someone who has gazed upon the stars, in all their true splendour we will be but dust under your exalted footsteps and be unworthy of your financial beatitude.

We do be begging your forgiveness your most honourable one and do solemnly swear not to do such again, until the next time.

Yours almost obediently.

me
