In the words of the great orator, Ricardo di Wapping…..’I thought I’d start another thread’ specifically for detailing 450 accessories/mods.

Myself, Wapping and Posh Pete have already ordered the new bike and many more will realise it’s at the peak of motorcycling and take the plunge.

I know Richard has received a sat nav mount and PP has inquired about pannier frames.

I’ve just ordered some better tyres from my local RE dealer.

I narrowed it down to Mitas E07+ Enduro Trail or TKC 70/TKC 70 Rocks.
My dealer uses Cambrian Tyres and they don’t list the Mitas so went for the TKCs

As recommended by Conti, the front 90/90-21 is a standard TKC70 and the rear is a 140/80-17 TKC70 Rocks, which is a tad more aggressive

Dealer gave me 10% off and price is £245 fitted .

Not bad.

Next

Heated grips ?

I see Oxford now do the grips with integrated controller

As well as the more traditional

Did I read somewhere that the Evos get hotter than the Pros ?

£65 cheaper too !

Finally, I might fit an Atlas Throttle lock as , if I take the bike to Picos and ride back then it’ll make sense on a long slog.
Had one on AT and 701LR

Not sure it’ll fit , as the gap between the end of the grip and the housing is quite narrow

I’ve messaged those lovely people at Rugged Roads to see what they reckon.

Ive seen the hot grips pro fitted to a bike and they looked really smart.

But do they work ?
Fitted them to the humble CT125 Hunter Cub .... they work just fine!

BUT

In soggy leather gloves I can't switch them on. The tiny micro switch cannot be activated, it just sinks in to the leather. I have to stop, take a glove off, and can then press the micro switch and off we go again. Gonna find out if I can fit the old style controller, as shown above :thumb

They look smart, work fine, nice'n hot .... but I could not switch them on in horizontal sleet over Rannoch Moor and Glencoe last week :blast

I bet the 'testers' were never out in such conditions :D

A triumph of form over function.

Thanks Micky.

Think I’ll go for the Evos and save some dosh which will pay for the Lomo panniers !

Ok, so Sportsbikeshop have 40% off Touring grips

Only difference to Adventure is the grip pattern .

So , as it’s a bargain bike being fitted with cheap stuff, Touring grips ordered and even cheaper minus VAT

A guide to all you need to know…

The Indian YouTube videos are so much better than the somewhat dull UK bods droning on.

Just ordered the large Lomo panniers from Amazon.

Was slightly cheaper for me as £66.66 with no VAT and free postage.

Might be cheaper for you guys who are UK-based direct from Lomo as £72 plus p and p.

Amazon is £79.99 so if p and p is less than £7.99 buy direct from Lomo

I do think the bike is well-priced.
And the bonus is the accessories are also dirt cheap.
I’ve just totted up what I’ve spent :

Hanle Black Tubeless 450 Himalayan
Panniers rails
Lomo Large dry bags (panniers)
Lomo crash bar bags
Comfort seats
TKC70s fitted
Oxford Evo Hotgrips

Total £6164 !!!!

(That’s without VAT)

Just ordered a rad guard of eBay

Only £36.65-nice that VAT is automatically deducted.

Half the price of the silver OE one and I think look better in black .

It’s this one
