Honda 400four

That’s a lot of money to spend on a 400.
Was it you that spent that. Or someone else?

Reason I asked is I remember seeing an advert for it. Noticed the uneven spacing of the seat rivet above the 400 decal.

Funny what things I remember.

I wish it was someone else who's paid, nope all my money I'm afraid, that's not including the £4500 I paid for the bike 😳

Fuckinell; the thick end of fifteen grand ; jeez; it certainly looks very nice and it will give plentyof pleasure to those looking at it and yerself riding it. I remember looking at one in Bennets on Abbydale rd when they first came in and thinking they were pretty special; i was running British bikes at the time and thought it was quite tempting; they were about six and a half hundred or summat in just plain blue or red; :beerjug:

Had a mate at work who turned up on a customised one back in the day. Special black paint job with gold pin stripes, clip on’s, single seat, rear sets etc. and at the time it looked the absolute bollox even though the reality was it wasn’t much faster than a GT 250 down the lanes.

Probably get berated for desecrating what is now a classic but back then it was the envy of every 17 year old in the district.

I think the asking price for most classic bikes is often a little optimistic, especially modern classics but I can understand you spending that amount over those years.
The value in giving you the pleasure to indulge in a passion can’t be calculated in a bean counter fashion. I’d bet you’ve had more enjoyment out of your project than some who lose that figure in depreciation on new bikes over the same period.

It looks an absolute corker and there are many of use who would love to open the garage door to that icon 👍

Here's my 1977 honda 400four, spent nearly 4years and around 10grand getting a full ground up refurbishment. Sunny days only now.134 miles so still running in.
Now that looks very nice, well done at keeping another classic on the road and doing a great job👍
I have always fancied the 400/4 and have been looking at a couple for sale locally…and the bonus is I can flat foot on one😎

Very nice, the same as the one I bought new in August 1978. That is probably the proudest I’ve ever been of a bike of mine, riding away from Lloyd Bros in Hamilton on it.

Some very poor photos, all I can find immediately in an old album. A month after buying a mate and I went round Ireland on it, carrying all our camping gear with ease. Who says you need a 1200 to tour!

Ps I guarantee you didn't see this bike advertised 😁

Bikes, cars and caravans (see picture background)
We’ve all gradually normalised and accepted the saying bigger is better (ooo-er) over the decades since then but the reality is we don’t actually need the outsized offerings now available to experience everything we accomplished beforehand.

You needed a good strong rack to hump that force Ten around with you; :beerjug:
Honda rack, I had that added when I bought it.
Amazing what you can pack an a small bike, I saw one recently and was taken aback by how physically small it was. And we had a Force Ten, sleeping bags, mats, stove, personal gear and two 6ft lads on it and thought it was brilliant!
Then a mate joined us on his Z200 and three of us slept in that tent.
