anyone know how hot engine cases typically get?

need to know if this will do at 150° max or if i need to use this @ 200°?

actually got both but the 200° stuff is about 10 years old now. other stuff i picked up the other day cos it was only a fiver :D

want to use it on (amongst other things) airhead cylinder/crankcase joints.

I think that it depends where on the engine you plan to use this stuff. Water cooled engines usually run a core temperature of around 90C, but the oil could go to 120C.

Air and air/oil cooled engines tend to run a liitle hotter. But in any case, localised areas could be much hotter than the core. You'd probably get away with 150C stuff, but only just!

10 year old stuff it is then. it was very pricey.

it's what's specified for sealing 900ss cylinder base joints by ducati IIRC so it must be ok.

Erm, no - that doesn't follow!

How many Ducati 900SSs do you know that get past the first roundabout without spewing their guts (usually the clutch) over the tarmac?

:D

well mine did.

it actually got to 12,000 miles, then 4 bearings in the incorrectly assembled gearbox failed. out of warranty, so i had to fix it myself.

oh yes....

i also had 2 clutches + 1 bodgy mod (that worked).

2 pairs of carbs

and the paint bubbled & fell of all over. ducati said it was my fault, but couldn't suggest how. tossers.

my neighbour has a 916. it's on it's second engine.

P.O.S.

That obviously explains why you have such a selection of Loctite in your garage!!

:hammer
