How many Scots

Well I thought seeing as its a Gs owners site and in the Scotland region I presumed that most of the Scots on here are gs owners ..and I was asking how many gs owners are scottish ......jeezo

If I'd been born in Hong Kong would I be Chinese?
What if I'd been born in Coldstream, then the day after, moved to London, and lived there for 50 years....would I be Scottish?
You would still be scottish (just in scotland :D) cos that is the country where you were born ..and would be on your birth certificate

So your national identity is determined by the moment of birth?
And what about these folk......would you say they were not English?

Freddie Mercury
Bradley Wiggins
Eddie Izzard
George Orwell
Richard E Grant
JRR Tolkien
Cliff Richard
Rudyard Kipling

Nope, sorry, don't agree. Your national identity is determined by much more than a matter of 'registration'.

You can be born in a stable, doesn't make you a horse.........:D

Exactly what the Duke of Wellington said about being born in Ireland. That was then ...Surely folk can be a bit more relaxed about national identity these days? Norman Tebbit got terribly worked up about English born Asians supporting Pakistan during cricket Test matches. Scots are well used to supporting other teams against England but get on with our English cousins in other ways. You can be an English born Scot just as you can be a Jamaican born Englishman or woman AND all three can be citizens of the UK and the European Union all at the same time.

Say what you want mate, you're English :D

If you voted in the referendum last September, then you're as Scottish as I am :rob

How so ?

The following groups are entitled to be on the electoral register for the referendum:

British citizens resident in Scotland.
Commonwealth citizens resident in Scotland who have leave to remain in the UK or do not require such leave.
Citizens of the Republic of Ireland and other EU countries resident in Scotland.
Members of the House of Lords resident in Scotland.
Service personnel serving in the UK or overseas with the armed forces who are registered to vote in Scotland.
Crown personnel serving outside the UK with HM Government who are registered to vote in Scotland.
