How much were 990 Adventures new ?

Do you want the bike? Then fecking buy it......it is not important what the vendor paid.

Well I dont want to pay more than it's worth here in Ireland ! We have to pay import duty here aka VRT. So the import duty on a 2011 (January) 990 adventure is €808 euro. So one has to be careful that the UK sterling price + VRT is not more than it's worth here.

And is the asking price plus VRT is cheaper than an 'Irish' bike in this case?

Which case ? The UK (white one) in the dealers is €8,800 + vrt . . . . . the Irish (Blue Dakar model) has slightly higher mileage but is €8,500 & needs a valve clearence service which I'm told is around €600 euro.

A 'valve clearance service' is when? I'd say, and I'm no specialist, but it is more than 'slightly higher mileage' than 600 miles. At 600 miles, the first service bubble has not been burst......
If you can stretch the extra, then buying the lowest miles/hours/abused bike is always best.....
Go for it.

Sorry Timpo. The 600 miler is £7,800, then if you were silly enough (and did not know the revenue rules here in Ireland) to import it you would be liable for VAT at 21% as well as import duty :eek::eek:. The customs rules here state that if the mileage is less than 3,700 miles then you pay VAT as well as import duty (VRT) :augie.

You can buy mine if you want, but i'll be keeping the seat and top box,
Has Fuel 2 into 1 tail pipe, extra fuel tank on the other side, sump guard, sat nav mount, frame protectors, reservoir protector, headlight guard, touring and standard screen.... It's just done 9000 miles and just had it's major ktm service + full ktm history.......Will sell with all the bits or without..
And it's mintyer than minty.:thumb

But in UK there would of been VAT paid when new, so you have to pay it again......jeez!
