Any meets or rides planned?

Pleased to say that David Watson continued his winning ways on sunday in the twins class at the Pikes Peak round of the All Terrain Rally Championship (previously the big bike rally championship)

His HP2 is very nicely kitted with excel 21 and 18 wheels and ohlins front and rear. I now understand that Hagon will build an 18 from a standard hub as they are doing one for Ben Pope. I thought it was just woodys wheel works and the Italian CR company who made mine that I have bought off eBay.

I had my HP2 out in the hail on Salisbury plain on Saturday , but raced the ktm super enduro on the sunday and narrowly beat Ben Pope overall on his hp2 but was well beaten by him when the rain came down....

My 18 and 21 wheels arrive soon ( do they fit straight on or do i need to play with the rear ride height and remove the passenger footpeg bar for clearance?)
I need to get the front forks sorted as the rear wilbers is lovely!
Any ideas for the forks other than £1k for ohlins??
MHsnowy thought that KTM 38 WPs may fit the standard triple clamps?

I also have holan racks and a woody's side stand on mine and have ordered a rear rack so I can use an empty (mindful of the rear frame) top box to commute with for parking security

Hi Michael

I went down the WP route copy of my post on adv in this thread http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655685
First big thanks to Bobby for this kit and he’s a very helpful person to deal with :thumb

Sorry a little history about my Hp2

My Hp2 started as a trail bike and playing in the dirt in the UK only, had lots of fun on it

But started using it for trips into Africa and Eastern Europe

So sold my 1200 GSA (as the Hp2 is the very thing I wanted form my GSA) and have been modifying it for my travel needs and was looking at fork options when I saw this kit

As I’m returning to North Africa in April with the Hp2, Bobby pull out all the stops to ship me his kit

I had the clamps removed wait for my new ones to arrive

Then the kit arrived and a quick go on a mates press and my new clamps were ready to be fitted ( fitted new bearings as well just because it was striped down )

My new forks all sorted by a mate Kevin ( runs an engine and suspension workshop for the MX & supermoto boys) who has done all my WP fork’s for my ktm’s when I raced them

They are a little bit special not that far way form WP factory ones, MX closed cartidge forks with 290mm of travel revalved, stiffer spring rate and billet feet (The MX top tube is shorter than the SE fork so with the 290mm travel its only 8mm longer than the standard forks)

After a quick test ride they are 50% better than the standard one it’s great and I’m sure there is still a little fine tuning to be done

Ok the up shot of this is what ever you are using your Hp2 for and you want to improve the front of your Hp2 IMHO going down the WP route has got to be the way forwards and this kit makes it easy

MX or EXC forks are easy to pick up second hand, then have them revalved and new springs. Only thing I would say is get your new forks revalved and new springs done by someone who knows what there doing as this is what’s going to make the biggest improvement

Louis

Sorry I,m going to miss Erzbergrodeo hope you all have a great time :thumb2

Really should give me Moly/Burt a call about organising a session at Sweet Lamb... Although it sounds like you should be doing some of the teaching!

The 18" will fit with no modification using a 140/80 profile tyre. The only issue is that it will rub a little on the plastic shock protector. It'll rub an inch or so of the bottom.

I also have holan racks and a woody's side stand on mine and have ordered a rear rack so I can use an empty (mindful of the rear frame) top box to commute with for parking security

Have you looked at the Wunderlich rear rack? It gives a lot more strength to that very weak part of the bike :thumb2

@Louisdut what pannier bags are these... Kriega us-xx? Have you just attached them to standard pannier frames or do they require some extra mounts to fit? They look good and would work well on my airhead I think.
