HPN or Richie Moore?

There are two good threads about hte 1100 rear end conversion...

HERE and HERE

I tell you what, woud,nt it be easier if you could just weld a chunk of nice thick ally tube onto the middle of the r100 gs paralever , lengthen the drive shaft, lengthen the anchor bar , change the subframe to take the extra travel. piece of piss ! (why not ? )

Maybe :nenau I have no interest in the 1100 conversion. I have two of those pesky oilheads in the garage already. :D

To what purpose? The standard length of the Paralever works fine it's just the driveshaft it's self that's a weak spot. The 1100 suspension is always going to work better because the shock mount is in a better position but you end up with a very long, tall machine. I've heard 65" wheelbases quoted by the time you fit longer forks which is extreme by any ones standard.

I haven't heard any bad remarks about the upgraded Paralever driveshaft that's available for £300+ so the driveshaft issue should be sorted so if you fit one of those and a decent rear shock the Paralever can be sorted out for a fraction of the price it's going to cost to build a special.

To what purpose? .

And here Endeth the Story.

I have to be very Carefull , its a dangerous move paying Rob Farmer a compliment .
But having read his many posts over the Years both here and Adv.
I have to say , i would value Robs opinion. Level Headed and to the Point , which has yet to be corrected.

So much so if the Question was HPN , Richie Moore , Or Rob farmer ,
I would opt for Farmer Motorad.

Did you mention a Tenner Rob ?:hide

Ah, but where is the fun in that!?! By the way... how many bikes have you brought back from the dead and built? Half of your threads are the bloody reason I started looking at Richie's stuff in the first place! :blast

Don't make me tell the wife about your recent purchases!!! :hide

Far too many over the years.

Don't make me tell the wife about your recent purchases!!! :hide

Shes aware that items were purchased but lets just say I may have been economical with the truth over the actual amount ;)

Well... those parts are 30 years old... no one want them anymore so they were practically given away!

I use that line or tell the missus that Vern sent them to me. If he sent them then everything is okay mind you she prefers the tenner she got from Kenny... I think she bought some lacy knickers with that! :ChrisKelly

So i'm looking for a monolever swing arm and two drive shafts to fit either a g/s or st. If anyone has anything that they would like to swap for beer tokens please let me know. Thanks

She earned it :drums

Besides, that donation was for a pair of underpants for you :rob

Rob Farmer and a Richie ( not in a :ymca ) fan as well :thumb2

Have I missed it, or has nobody mentioned 'cost' yet...... as having had an....erm.... look through some of the HPN kit for sale Europe-wide, there seems to be a huge premium price tag applied to their kit.
How does Moore's stuff compare?

T.

Well I do see the hpn bits'n'bobs on t'web go for high prices... not much savings on buying direct. I wonder if the rumours of being hard to contact and looooong posting times has anything to do with it. Plus auctions can get silly if two people really want something... for example there was recently a chap selling a single set that was on his hpn g/s .... it went for something like 400 euros... I'd hazard a guess to say that you can buy a new one for that!

As for price comparisons...apart from the frame work... both parties have their own way of working/style and I guess you just pick whomever you'd prefer to tinker on your bike. Both makers required you call to price parts so online comparisons are nigh on impossible.

I messed about with an 1100 rear end in a project bike a couple of years ago.

Apart from the gearbox adapter at 300 Euros there were two main stumbling blocks:- The top shock mount and rear wheel offset everything else was pretty much just a bolt on with a few minor parts to be made.

The rear wheel offset was the biggie

I had always wondered about doing an r1100 rear end... I didn't realize about the off-set - that's really put me off the idea.

I wonder how HPN do it?

A quick update...

Richie kindly agreed to undertake the work on the bike. Once I get some parts back I'll start a tear-down and build thread. I'm going to model it on the following....

with the exception of it being a monoshock...because Proff said they are better.

Anyone know where to find these exhausts?

Moorespeed Pistons

anyone put moorespeed pistons onto a bike with the smaller R80 carbs?

how do they feel?

am assuming that the R80 heads need work to deal with the pistons that are conceived for the R100, basically leaving the carbs as the outstanding variable
