Huggered Up

Guys, here`s the next step - its just to prove the shape thats all but I think I am getting nearer the `hugger` shape don`t you think?

I do feel that I will have to Tig it up (which isn`t the end of the world) but I`m starting to get quite pleased witht he radical design,

Can you see what I mean by `layered` and `Armadillo-like`

What do we think? Load of arse? Too radical to be any good? Or `Radical-R-Us` ????

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there will be amny people who don`t like this but I`m starting to like the way this is going...............

Looks superb, very functional

Crack on, a fine job being done for my 12GS WC brothers, to solve their muddy water problem

That's bloody brilliant mate, ;)

I was scratching my head trying to think what you'd come up with, well done, :bow

IMHO, It needs to be longer, closer to the rear mudguard thingy, maybe you could sell two different lengths,

Cheers, Graham

ta for your input pal and always good to hear from you. I will try to get at least one done but will bear in mind your helpful suggestions about length.

That's clever! Perhaps a more curvy shape to match the tyre profile? Still following your Armadildo model.

Definitely going in the right direction

Thanks for the effort you are putting in on our behalf. The bike is being given the ACF50 treatment on Friday and you may come up with the hugger just in time for winter. Hat's off to the shed inventor.

Thanks pal - I don't know how long this may take..........

And why do the big boys with much more resources seem to take longer???

There are those that talk a good job and then there are those that can do a good job. You obviously fall in to the second group. How the hell can it take 20 years to build a submarine for example ??????

Clever design Mark:thumb

Thanks, yeah good init? - I am looking forward to the final design, it's nearly taking over my life. Doesn't look much now but already about 20 hours since the weekend has gone into getting it this far

GSWhizz suggested a 'tail' and that's really got me thinking!

Someone mentioned stones pinging inside, and making a rattly noise, so what about lining the hugger with plastic or rubber, to eliminate said pinging?

You should trademark "Armadillo Hugger' :D
Could you build a former to help the manufacturing process (when in production)? I agree that it would benefit from having a curvature (soft mallet over a curved former?), the flats would stay though (armadillo) they would just fold at the cuts in the panel to form the curvature if you know what I mean? You could also then maybe shorten the 'sidewall', this would be an improvement I think? Only my impressions Mark, terrific job so far mate! Bike's been out since March and nobody has come up with a hugger for it yet!!!

I don't think this will be a big issue (for me anyway) unless spending days off road, but I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to achieve if that was a requirement? Once Mark has final prototype made it wouldn't be too difficult to have sheet rubber cut to exact inner profile and bonded into position. A simple cutting die could be made, or just a template for trimming shape around in sheet rubber?

hugger,

Im following this thread with great interest, but with no photos:blast:mad: (works computer)
Ive always liked the judge dredd predator stylee and this sounds like its up my street
any chance of getting me photos on another format:nenau

Nuts I`m looking at liners but its a way down the road at the moment. As I said its more `concept` than it is anything else but at the end of it it may have a practical yet limited use (it won`t be any good for the off road guys I`m sure)

its holding the rubber sheet in place mate - that's the problem - not sure if I can bond it as the inside of the `armadillo` is very convoluted.

What about a series of slots down the edges that it could slide into and then strategically placed pop rivets. I am sure that the correct 'contact' style adhesive would be surprisingly capable of holding any liner in place. As in my pm I think the liner would enable you to have as many slits as you want as it would act as a binder to hold it all together.
