Huggered Up

Find a similar texture plastic as per the front mudguard, and use your bracket and your onto a winner, keep the retail costs competitive to others and it would be a big seller.

You have the skills and the brackets done ! There ain't nowt to stop you coining it in.

Thanks mate - if you can help me find a similar texture mudguard that would work I will send you a freebie!

Hi Mark
the original mud catcher on the back looks just like what is needed, one of them with a new bracket and hey presto. Just a thought

Terry

I saw these when looking around. I think they might look ok. Personally I like the angled look of the armadillo. I think it should be with the lower edge of the plate forward and the higher edge of the plate to the rear. Just so the panels 'lay' the right way if you get my meaning. Just a minor aesthetic point. Once it was 'blacked' up for the finished item I think it would work much better with the angular lines of the bike.

Are they going to be wide enough, the object being to stop all the spray up the side of the bike???????

I thought that myself, bearing in mind how narrow classic trial bike tyres are.

For me the bracket looks fantastic but the protection should be more discreet and towards the front of the swinging arm. I'm hoping that the MudSling will be almost undetectable when fitted and do the job it's intended to do.

I hoe that doesn't come across as too critical Mark, your work never ceases to amaze me and I really enjoy watching how you can come up with a variety of solutions to our problems. :clap :beerjug:

ta mate - subtle it isn`t but its one of the reasons why I have gone for this such radical look - I suspect it will prove to be a `purposeful talking point` rather than a discreet item on a bike!

+1.:thumb The front part of the swing arm WILL get chipped, so something to sit between that and the rear wheel is exactly what is needed. I did mention this to Mark, but he misunderstood.:blast:comfort

Perhaps a fender extender fitted in reverse to the front where it goes down by the existing suspension protector. Some form of plastic/ rubber tip that wont cause any damage but will add full protection to the front end of the hugger.

Nuts/GSWhizz - good idea.

The final prototype is going to the powder coaters tmoz (black satin finish I`ve kinda guessed as the most `generic` colour) - and then I`m off to the NEC on Thursday with it just to ask fellow bikers what they think (as I said it will score points simply from being a talking point).

I`ll look to fit a fender extender to it at the weekend to see if it looks any good...................

Mark, if you have spare brackets that are the final production, would it be possible to buy a bracket from your good self !

I'm going purchase a rear mudguard and knock myself up a hugger .

Post up a picture when you can. I am sure it will command a lot of interest. Thanks for all the effort you have put in so far.

Finally!

And finally guys!

A little over a week ago I was asked to see if I could come up with something - its consumed me (and my time, tbh its been very hard) but here is my solution and its the best I could do. If its not what we are looking for thats fine - I`ve tried my best!

If anyone wants one you know where I am :rob

I still have another one to make using a piece of mudguard which JonnyP has VERY kindly sent me but it a) won`t look as radically stunning and b) it will be cheap.

If anyone is happy with both of the above you know where to find me :D
