humming noise on WC at low speed

Yes I get that humming noise in my left ear. However its f***ing tinnitus!

Difficult to decide if it's same problem but what you describe I thought was due to screen alignment and was /is wind noise. Took bike to dealer and really good techie that I've know for years took it for a spin. Tyres was his answer. Change them and the problem will go away

There was NO humming when I ran the bike on Next's. On Anakees, they hum.:rob

Maybe we talking about different humm? :-) anyway I will be changing my tyres before Spain trip in May and I've decided to go with ContAtackTrail2...

Mine does it aswell..

Hi chaps,
For what its worth my LC hums at 25-50 mph, and this was accentuated when I fitted the 'Machine Art' front extender.
I am on Annakees and cannot wait to fit Contis again.
I reckon it must be the tyres because the amount of noise does change with different road surfaces.

Not sure , mine has a vibration when in 4th gear , dealer calls it gearbox harmonics , sounds like bollocks to me as not all bikes have it. Bm's idea of we haven't got a clue .

My bike has the same "harmonics" I thought it was just me. It starts at 2500rpm in fourth and I can feel it through the footrests.
My bike is back at the dealer on Friday for some suspension issues. I'll be mentioning this when I'm there just to see the Service advisor roll his eyes with disbelief-he doesn't even ride a bike. These lc's should have perhaps had a little more development at the factory instead of letting us all help after the launch!

Took mine back into the dealer with the same problem in January, I could also feel it in 3rd gear as well, got the same explanation, gearbox harmonics, I rejected the bike and BMW contacted me directly and asked for another look at it, I eventually agreed to let them fit a new engine, just got the first service done at 600 miles, and I'm now starting to feel the same rumble in the new engine, but only in 4th at the minute, Looks like an inherent problem. I'm also experiencing engine vibration around 5000 rpm, at around 90 it's a proper ring tickler, waiting for the dealer to come back to me on this one ?

Can I ask how long you'd had the bike and how many miles you'd done before you rejected it? I've had mine for about 7 months and covered 3250 miles so I'm wondering where I stand here.
I'm disappointed. I have 5 other BMW's that vary from 1989 to present day and while my other BM's aren't perfect, they're very, very good bikes and didn't cost nearly 16k. I expected a better bike in the new GS.
I'm not on this forum to bash BMW's,I love 'em. If we as customers and owners have problems,we should share our experiences and views. I think it's the best way drive customer service forward and look out for one another.

Hi Guys,
I know this thread a couple of years old. I've recently picked up a GSA1200 LC with new PR4's (Pilot Road 4's) fitted & getting this resonance/harmonic from the front (almost like a dry bearing sound?) but more noticeable on certain road surfaces. I'm not due a tyre change for quite some time but was just wondering if anyone else had a definite resolution to this issue? Is it definitely the tyres?
Appreciate any extra feedback
Cheers !

I have the same thing with the same tyres so would be interested on anyone's thoughts too. I'll let dealer know when I take it in for first service, but expecting some bulls**t answer

Definitely the dreaded Anakee3

However I did get a bumble bee in my helmet many years ago, it made a loud buzzing sound....which turned into a loud shrieking sound after it stung me

The PR4's do hum too, I had both on my GSA-LC, funnily enough my new GS-T/B is significantly quieter with the PR4's, the Adventure seems to funnel the noise up through the gap around the headstock more than the GS. Maybe something to due to the extra bodywork and tank on the GSA deflecting the sound in that direction.

Just fit ear plugs and ride it, that what I say.

I thought the slow, pulsing vibes I have in third gear at low-mid 30's MPH would go with a new engine, shaft and bevel box. No, it hasn't. PR4's fitted. They make a rare old row on some surfaces. But they're not Anakee 3's, thank God.

Iteresting, my bike(06/14) vibes at about 3000rpm in 4th and getting slowly worse. Started at 12000mls, now done 18000mls, I am going to chop it in and get another.
