So last saturday I just rode along with a friend who wanted to look at a new GS. While he and the salesman were looking over a red GS I checked out the two new Adventures they had just rolled out. One was matte olive green the other gloss white. Both were equipped the same that is with every available option, just over $22,000! Bags an additional $1,400  I must say the bike felt nice even the seat wasn't bad. I have ridden the new GS and I love the new engine.

The owner offers to work up a trade for my 2012 Adventure but has to stop when a guy pulls in and buys the green one. He finally gives me a number that had me seriously considering until I find it included a GPS but not bags! I thank him anyway and we leave. He emailed me twice yesterday and long story short he is furnishing the side cases now for $400 more.

My 2012 is white and it just so happens the wife is leaving Friday to visit our daughter for the weekend. My plan is after she leaves Friday morning I load the GSA in the truck and go pick up the new one. I believe there's a good chance she'll never notice.:thumb

You think like me...has worked for me in the past...enjoy

Thanks guys and yes I'll post a pic. He just called to say he has the bags but not the locks. They're coming from Germany and since the dealer is almost 3 hours away he'll mail them to me.

What's a "reg"?

nice one Clifton, health to enjoy...... A "reg" is a Registration Plate you call it a licence plate... In the UK you can have a Registration number issued by the government or pay to have a plate that has your name or initials as long as it meets certain criteria

Thank you twizzle. Actually I renewed my reg plate last month so I'll just transfer the same one over. She'd not know it's number anyway. The wife has moles everywhere but they cant recognize me all suited up on a bike. The last thing I'd want is my name on my plate!

Nice one I have had 4 White GSA's /GS's and she did not notice :thumby:

Outstanding, I'm even more confident my deception will work.

Pictures added.

So mid morning yesterday finally the wife left, I loaded my old GSA in the truck (the bike barely turned over but did start) and off I went, arriving at the dealer mid afternoon. When we unloaded my bike it didn’t turn over partially because it’d been riding in the truck at -7 c, but I think the battery was bad. The dealer didn’t seem to mind, probably because he only gave me low book for my bike and I paid almost full retail for his. He explained how BMW ordered enough side cases from Tourtech but didn't themselves make enough locks, saying they should be here by April (I'm leaving for Texas then so I hope so). So he furnished some zip-ties to use until they arrive :eek. The nice mechanic went over my new bike including the GPS, much of which went over my head for now. I explained my intention to do the 600 mile oil change myself and probably the 6,000 as well. He confided that wouldn't be a problem at all other than the service light (I will be buying a GS911). He said he's yet to find a GSW in need of valve adjustment and himself he wouldn't hesitate going to 12-18K before even checking them.
Finally I gave them my proceeds from selling my F650GS twin last year we and loaded up the new GSA. Back home I struggled a bit unloading it by myself in the dark but I did so thankfully w/o spilling it, and still had time to meet my friday evening group at the local watering hole.

I rode my friends 2013 R1200GS but I’ve not ridden this bike, or any 14 GSA yet. With the temps and salt covered roads I’m not sure when I will. Just pushing it to the garage I noticed how much lighter it steered than the 2012 GSA. Next will be studying the manual and trying to familiarize myself with this new generation R1200, it’s more different than I realized. Hopefully the wife doesn’t notice the bold blue “R 1200GS” logo which wasn’t on the old white GS. Anyway a couple pics.

The aluminum side panels on the tank now aren't panels at all, that's the actual tank itself which is now made of aluminum.

Thanks Dave, yeah so far I'm avoiding temptation because the roads have a mixture of salt dust and coal cinders on them. I hope the locks show up in time too, I'm beginning to wonder though it sounds like they may be close. They originally said the locks should be here by end of March but they're now saying they should leave Germany end of March.

Thanks guys. Now about this weather....it's snowing again, supposed to get 6-8".

Thank you Kieth. On a ride last year my friend asked me to switch bikes and ride his brand new GS to see what I thought about the shifting? I thought it shifted fine but I didn't want to give it back, about 30 minutes later when we came to a stop he asked "what do you think of the transmission?" I told him I wasn't sure, let me ride it a while longer. When we stopped for gas and he took it back he asked me again. I told him it shifted fine to me. LOL I've been jealous of all the guys on their water head GS's ever since. :D

yeah , the guys who ride my water GS don't seem to want to give it back either !!
