I thought I had seen everything

And this, friends, is why rags like MSN are now asking whether the 1200 has had it's day. If you need a blanket and muffs for winter commuting, buy a f**king scooter :blast

Why would Microsoft Network be in the slightest interested if your BMW R1200 GS wore a Gaucho, Muffs or a toothbrush?

The muffs are great, all year riding in summer gloves :thumb it gives you better feel of the bike, your hands nice and toastie and rain ain't no problem.

Interesting thread!

And I recall recently in another thread someone was asking about an alternative screen to all but eliminate buffeting .... and the resulting consensus was along the lines of "it's a bike for heaven's sake, if it bothers you that much take the car" :blast

Got one on my GSA, got caught coming back from wickstead park to surrey in the snow/sleet on the M1 through the road works, temperatures well under zero, took me over 3 hours,

without the gaucho and muffs, I would have been in a real bad way by the time i got home, they are well recommended, enabled me to continue riding for work and pleasure throughout the winter

Nope, sorry, I just couldn't ..... :)

Let the silly feckers get cold. Mind you, it's usually the wankers who only ride in the summer who think they know better. Let them stick to polishing and buying highly polished overpriced add on crap that serves no purpose whatsoever. :D

Anyway, it's not new :nenau I've been using my shite bag in winter since 2004.

At one point it reached minus 6 degrees during this 500 mile ride.

Notice the frost on the screen :D

And the ice on the ground at the bottom of this picture at 4am in the morning ....

No it isn't - its because the MCN (if thats what you meant to type :blast) is a shite rag that panders to summer riding Rossi leather wearing wankers. :thumb2

why would I do that? I don't want a scooter.

What do you use for your winter commute? If you're not one of the 'bike in the garage by September' brigade :rob

Old army saying - Any idiot can be uncomfortable :comfort

wouldnt leave home in the winter without them:thumb2

Ok - what is the max sort of (comfortable) speed when wearing a 'Shitebag'?

Winter riding

Having done it many times and got frozen stiff a few years ago tried muffs. I always thought they look dreadful but on trying them just once!! that was it converted!!. Road about thirty miles down to the club meeting all country riding and very cold, only had on medium gloves but my hands were only slightly chilled on the back when I got there!. So, never tried a shit bag or seen one come to that but don't knock it till you've tried it!.

Same speed you'd ride at without one............it makes no difference. (There are tie down straps at the bottom and a thin, bendable, metal strip incorporated into the lower leading edge and these stop it from flapping about at speed).

plus the one on my scooter extends over the rear seat so that when you come back to your bike you have a dry seat to start off with :thumb2

How many times have you ridden 4-500 miles in rain and sleet, may I ask?

Or do you take the car ?

Lots. And I don't need one of those gay scooter blankets.

A proper waterproof suit (KLIM) and heated clothing (Gerbing trousers, jacket and insoles). Sorted.:thumb
