Hopefully not too stupid a question. Are medicines like Ibuprofen legal in Morocco? The reason I ask is that a colleague of mine recently travelled to Dubai and things like Ibuprofen are apparently illegal (this was news to me). Clearly Morocco is a different location but I was wondering if things like Ibuprofen, or any other "regular" drugs may cause problems?

Cheers
Steve

Not sure about Morocco, but most Arab states and some Nth Africa prohibit opiate based medication.

The usual one people get caught out with is Codine Phosphate often found in Cold and Flu preparations. Ibuprofen is not in this category and I have never had a problem. Some states also frown on Ephidrine, (rarely now) found in some cough medication. Phone your local travel doctor

There are no stupid questions ...

... Nobody is about to go through your medical kit.

... Last January we traveled through Morocco with 5,000 packets of Paracetemol/Ibuprofen/Asprin and no-one even noticed, despite us being regularly 'inspected' :nenau

It was the Greeks who banged up some holidaymaker for having codeine pills in their washbag. Nice people. Same shower who arrested the plane-spotters for spying.

I can't see it being a problem as I took some and I bought some whilst I was there, they are double the strengh of the uk tablets. You only take one so it's the same dose but they seem to work alot better, so I even brought a load back with me. Popped into a chemist and asked for Ibuprofen not sure if I would be understood and they grabbed them straight off the self no worries, even worned me that they were double the strengh of UK tablets

Have a good one.

Ian :)
