Cracking pictures and report Alan.
Scotland is great riding even though it does rain sometimes!
The 1150 is heavy to pick upbut the technique referred to does work although it's better to have some mates around who'll usually help when they've stopped laughing, taking pictures etc
Having had had both the 1150 and the 12 I can confirm that the latter is lighter to pick up.
PS it's the first thing you have to do on the BMW off road skills w/e!

Great report there bud, pictures are stunning. I stayed in one of the wigwams last year at applecross and it was a god send due to the weather turning extremely bad within minutes. Is that stac polly in one of your pics?, next time your up that way take a ride down the road that leads you to stac, Awesome:thumb2

Great pics and will definitely go to Scotland one day. Very inspirational.

I went on a ride Tuesday, stopped at a hotel/bar and almost lost my footing on gravel, tahnsk god just about managed to keep the GS up. So easily done

Really great shots - I can't believe how much stunning scenery and great roads you got to experience in such a short space of time.

Thanks for sharing :thumb2

Great pictures!

Excellent choice for a camera, and you surely know how to use it. What a beautiful country.

The thing that struck me about Scotland when I was there was the thought that if it had more trees, it would look very much like the mountainous part of the southeast US. I mean, if the mountains of Georgia had RAF jets flying between them, you could hardly tell a difference.

Hi Alan,
Great write up, I hope to do Scotland in August.
Your photos are quite stunning.

Ah Loch Garry

"Now we have all seen this picture before ..........

Do you ever wonder what is down there ? What is there past that bridge ? Well i can tell you and show you, it is the most amazing road, it goes for 23 miles to Loch Hourn, the road changes from open, to forested to windy, to well, everything. Its great, go see for yourself."

Hi

That certainly brought back some fond memories, back in the day I used to work/live
up that track over the bridge, the track ends at a place called Garry Gualach which is/was run as an outdoor centre by the Grey family (of Earl Grey fame). Famous for overland Icelandic horse trips and general outdoor fun. There was only a couple of other ways to the place , by boat at the top end of the loch or if you had a horse over a ford (also handy for getting to the pub...). The power for the place came from a hydro electric scheme. Man good times, good people.

Thanks for showing the photos and I hope your bike is back in good shape.

Cheers
rml.
