No. The 2-Valve Boxer staggered-on long after it should have been laid to (an honourable) rest.
Owning and running an old one is keeping a part of Boxer history alive but to buy a brand-new one today would be perverse.
I think that the same applies to anything that has been bettered by its successor (of course whether what comes after being better is a subjective judgement. We always have to make allowances for the likes of Proff and us 1150 owners).
My K75lasted all of 7 miles before expiring
I'd say the same thing if someone suggested buying a brand-new K75 today. Exactly the same applies: the K75 went out of production for a reason. I wouldn't buy a new one of them today either.I think we could say the same about the underpowered K75![]()

Found this ad today, in an old 1998 BMW mag
Would you go back in time and buy one![]()
Only if I could have better riding kit than a foul-smelling Belstaff waxed jacket, falconry-style gauntlets, and Derri boots.![]()

They were part bin specials to get gullible people to buy the remaining stock before BMW moved on

What did happen to Brackens.. I had a bike shop about a mile up the road from them in 2005 and they were really going strong then... even offered to help out when we got into trouble. i heard recently that they are no more which is a shame as they were a really good bunch

Paul (wilf) is till there, servicing bikes under his own name. Johnny is living in wales. Known them both very well since 1986. Went on Johns stag night when he married Patty sheck ( of paris dakar fame) and to his 40th birthday party
My son also worked there for a short time, and i worked there a few times (when nick plumb worked there) if they were short of staff .
