I bought a car from the Isle Of Wight a few years ago for my son. We lived in Norfolk at the time and it was the model he wanted. The owner did bring it over on the ferry to the mainland though!

Sold my F850GS last bank holiday Monday….the new owner left with it around 11am…. 12:25 pm I was on the way to Horsham in West Sussex to look at (and buy my new ( to me) FJR 1300.
It was an 8.5 hour round trip .. the M25 was rammed

Just trapped both thumbs pushing an SPR into the back of my van
I`ve got an epic 6-hour train journey to make tomorrow to pick up my new-to-me bike from way ooop north then a 300 mile ride back.
It`s a day out, i`m collecting a new bike, i can`t wait!

was looking at bikes in staffs (half an hour)
hull (2 hours)
but decided on one on the south coast (5 hours)
but was only 75 miles from it doing something else so why not
it was that cheap id have gone from up here 250 miles - it also was wound into the holiday
have considered from belfast previously - but thats not difficult or long from here
although was looking at classic cars in norway one was near tromso and omg the other was halfway between oslo and larvik which the ferry went from

Haha, i know what you mean now.
I haven`t been on a train since, well i can`t really remember, the only time i can say for sure was when me, Kim and my mate Pigsy went up to that there London for New Years Eve in about 1995.
It seems like there`s not a day goes by where the UK train service isn`t mentioned in the news/media for one reason or another - overcrowding, lateness, cancelled trains, poor service, overheating carriages etc etc etc. I experienced some of that yesterday. The only saving grace was that the carriages appeared to have aircon so at least the temp was manageable.
Made myself look a right
by not knowing how to operate the door to enter the toilet. And then again by not pressing the `lock` button once inside.........I didn`t even realise that reserving a seat was a thing nowadays. At a theatre maybe for taking in an opera, but on a train ffs? Is it just another way for them to get their hands on yer wallet?
I got ejected from my seat twice on yesterdays trip, i had to stand for only about an hour out of the whole six hour slog-athon so not too bad, really.
Why is it that the people on a train that utter the most inane, boring, mundane drivel or just plain outright bollox are always the ones who talk the loudest?
Can`t wait to do it again!
I travelled by ferry from Holland to Harwich. Then train to Romford and walked the last mile to the Triumph dealer in East London back in 2011 to pick up my brand new Rocket 3 Touring. Rode it back to the ferry same night back to NL. Dealer is long gone so is the bike but it was a lovely machine

If you don’t want to collect, you can always have it delivered.
I bought a couple of old BSAs in the past; one from Nantwich and the other from Exeter. Thought about collecting them and riding home but as they were old and needed recommissioning, had them couriered.
Furthest I’ve traveled is from my house to Bournemouth, about 170 miles, to pick up a bike in winter. Horrible ride home on an unfamiliar bike in bad weather. Wished I had that couriered!
If I can get to pick up, I always will if there is public transport to get to the seller.
