Hi All,

I have just got back from one of the best touring holliday i have ever been on.

Me and some mates rode from Tamworth to Morocco, and then did the Cannonball Bike Run Round Morocco.

The just for fun we rode back, it was just brilliant.

My bike was good to, but i am getting a bit old for doing all those miles on a Hayabusa !! 5500 miles in 12 days was hard work.

But my mate had a GS Adventure, and i am smitten.

I have seen one for sale localy to me, a 2007 with 40k miles.

Is the mileage an issue ? as it has FSH ?

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Simon

Welcome Simon :thumb

Mileage is not an issue if the bike has been well looked after and the service history is good...

Remember that the engine is a very old design and not that stressed.....

Bear in mind there's lots of them about and you should be looking for one that's minter than a minty thing, unless you're on a really tight budget :)

Which Year to go for

I am looking to get the best bike i can for my cash obviously, but the prices do seem to vary a lot. I have been buying and selling jap bikes for years and i also get the Trade books so i know what the bikes should fetch and should cost.

But the GS Adv seems to be a different law unto itself and the trade book bears litte or no resemblance to what prices the bikes fetch.

I have seen a 2006 in Alpine white i like, with high miles and it looks like a good price ?? Could any of you have a look and tell me if it looks ok.

Ebay No. 270590307686

As these models are new to me i am a bit out of my depth.

Thankshttp://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/201108/comfort.gif

Simon, that one looks nice... but the luggage isn't what normally is found on the Adventure.... for that kind of money for that year and mileage you should be aiming for a set of ally adventure luggage with it... bear in mind that the bike is advertised in a dealer, so it comes with the dealer margin built in...

If you can do it without a part ex I'd just look for the bikes advertised on here... that way no dealers involved... you're talking 7k for a bike with 40k on the clock....

Reckon you could do a bit better... patience is a virtue ;)

As Bryn says, you should be able to get a better bike on this site.

A high mileage GS should be okay, but if you then add another 20-30 k
it could be harder to sell. Keep a lookout on this site.

I'd look for as much practical bling as I could find for my money, a 3 yo 1200 GSA with ally panniers and a few modest farkles, up to 30,000mls perhaps £7 - £7.5k.

If performance and image is not so important to you then a better bet may perhaps be an 1150GSA and put the £2K saved into the petrol tank.

Ok guys, thanks for the heads up. I will keep my eyes posted and look out for one on here. To be fair i am not 100% bikeless as i also have a streetfighter.

Once again, thanks for all the advise.

If <strike>performance and image is not so</strike> reliability and solidity is more important to you then a far better bet may perhaps be an 1150GSA and put the £2K saved into the petrol tank.

Fixed it for you Shep :thumb2

Good Video, just have come back from Morroco.

Rode from Tamworth to there in 4 days. Then did the Cannonball bike run round Morroco for 5 days, and then rode back.

Took my hayabusa, but never again. Busa was great in France and Spain, but shocking in Morroco with the dust on the roads in the Rif mountains.

To be fair to the bike though, it was very reliable and fast.

I did go before in 2008 on a Triumph Tiger 1050, once again a good bike but very fragile.

Exploded the rear shock, and loosened the gearbox to the point of almost no return. Not a Off Road Toy me thinks.

So you two tours in, and i will go again.:):)
